NFL Draft:10 Reasons the Texans Should Hope Prince Amukamura Falls To Pick No.11
The Houston Texans managed to allow the most passing yards per game in the NFL last season with 267.5 yards a game. With this said, the Texans could really use some help on defense in the upcoming season.
The Texans can get some of this help in the upcoming NFL Draft. Houston currently has the 11th overall pick in the draft and if CB Prince Amukamura is still on the board, the Texans plan on picking him up.
Amukamura would be a great addition to the Houston Texans. With this said, there are ten reasons why the Houston Texans should hope that Prince Amukamura falls to pick number 11.
10. His Size
1 of 10
Prince Amukamura stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 205 pounds. Needless to say, he has great size for a corner back. His size helps him to be a very physical player and Prince is only going to get stronger at the next level.
9. Very Quick
2 of 10
Prince is very fast, which allows him not only to be physical, but play tight coverage as well. Just as receivers seem out of reach, Prince has the speed to catch up to them and make the play on defense.
Amukamura gets his speed from being a former running back.
8. Good Hands and Ball Skills
3 of 10
Being a former running back, Amukamura has developed good hands and ball skills. With these features, Prince will have a lot of interceptions in the next level and will be able to make a lot of plays on defense by tipping the ball away from receivers.
7. Good Coverage
4 of 10
Prince is best suited for a man to man coverage being the physical player he is. However, with his speed, he is able to play in a zone coverage as well. Although his straight line coverage is a question, he is a very fast player and will be able to keep up with just about any receiver that he is matched up against.
6. Great Sense Of The Game
5 of 10
Prince has very good instincts and very quick reactions. He is very good at reading quarterbacks, which allows him to anticipate plays. He is also great at attacking screen plays and outside runs.
5. #2 Cornerback In The Draft
6 of 10
Prince Amukamura is rated as the number two corner back in the draft according to ESPN, trailing only LSU's Patrick Peterson. Peterson will be long gone before the 11th pick comes around, but Amukamura will not be a disappointment.
4. Should Be Picked Higher
7 of 10
Prince Amukamura most likely will go way before pick number 11 and he is well deserving of it. The 2011 NFL Draft will be filled with corner backs. If Amukamura is around for pick number 11 then the Texans are getting a steal.
3. Need Cornerback
8 of 10
With the most passing yards allowed in the league last year, the Houston Texans are in dire need of a corner back. Prince Amukamara would be a step closer to shaving some of those passing yards off from last season.
2. If They Don't Get Him They Lost Their Man
9 of 10
If the Houston Texans do not get Prince Amukamara then they obviously lost their man. Although there are other good corner backs in the draft, Houston will have to settle with a corner back that is not at all as talented as Amukamara.
1. Ready To Start
10 of 10
With Prince's size, speed, his good hands and ball skills, good coverage skills, and great sense of the game of football, he is ready to start for any NFL team that picks him up in the draft. Not only will Amukamara start, but he will contribute to his future team as well.
Amukamara is a very good football player and he is going to have a great NFL career.
