Super Bowl XLV: Five Reasons Why The Green Bay Packers Will Win

Roberto Alvarez-GallosoFeb 5, 2011

The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will face each other in Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas. I am willing to predict a victory for the Green Bay Packers. I have the following reasons to back up my prediction.

Attitude

The important factor behind every team is how it feels secure about itself in spite of its turbulent NFL. While the Pittsburgh Steelers have Ben Roethlisberger as a powerful quarterback, the Packers are not easily intimidated.

The Green Bay Packers appear to have the desire to win even in the worst of times. The attitude of "Yes We Can" and playing to win goes in their favor.

It is a team that does not give up easily when confronted with obstacles. The Packers also do not look back. They also have the corners and bases covered when it comes to a game.

It is no surprise that this positive attitude has helped the Green Bay Packers in the 2010 NFL Season.

Sacks

Kevin Greene (who once played for the Steelers) offers his expertise to his players at Green Bay. During his time with Steelers, he was able to execute 160 sacks.

Greene has advised his players to go after Roethlisberger in group form since one player is not enough. Roethlisberger has been sacked 32 times during the regular season. He was also sacked by the Baltimore Ravens six times during the divisional playoffs.

Defense

One of the strongest suits for the Green Bay Packers has been its defense. The team has a defense that has been in high gear with 15 points a game during the regular season.

It has also conceded 17 (points) per game during the not so regular season. During their five games heading toward the Super Bowl, the Packers allowed one team to rush more than 100 yards with 16 turnovers.

Many of the people here in Miami, Florida I have talked to are willing to predict that Cullen Jenkins, Ryan Pickett, C.J. Wilson, and Jarius Wynn will be participating in defense.

Pride (Vince Lombardi would have it that way)

The Super Bowl Trophy is named in honor of Vince Lombardi, who is one of the greatest in NFL and Green Bay history.

What would be a great honor if Green Bay were to win the Super Bowl Trophy named in honor of one of its finest?

I can only imagine that people in Green Bay and those who support the Packers are entertaining the same line of thinking.

It would be great (and I think so too) after the ungrateful attitude of Brett Favre towards the team that nurtured his career before he played musical chairs with the NFL and retirement.

Justice (After the Hurt Caused By Brett Favre)

While I would have included this under pride, there is a sense of a need for justice. I personally think that Brett Favre kicked his home team in the groin when he retired and took back his retirement.

Favre also did the same thing with his home team by playing for other teams, taking into account that the Green Bay Packers is a close knit community.

Favre also dug himself in deeper water with his never ending scandals and foot in mouth disease (pun intended).

A Super Bowl victory for Green Bay would be great and help in the closure process for the team

Reflection

I am willing to predict a Green Bay victory by maybe five to 10 points, but this is my opinion. I would like to wish both teams and their supporters the best in the Super Bowl, wherever they are.
