NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to Lower Salary To $1 If Lockout
NOTE: This article was first seen at PatriotsPlus.net.
Not just NFL fans are praying for a new CBA, but you can definitely say NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is counting on one.
In a recent memo to all NFL owners, Goodell stated that he will reduce his annual salary to just $1 is there is a work-stoppage next season.
That's right. One dollar.
Goodell is planning on taking a $9,999,999 pay cut.
Also unveiled in the letter, Chief NFL negotiator Jeff Pash will take a pay-cut down to $1, and the NFL will be holding back bonuses for league officials.
The current CBA is set to expire in March and there has been no reported progress in a new agreement.
The chances of a lockout next season are unclear, but as each and every day passes, the chances increase.
After the Super Bowl in two weeks, expect the players union and league officials to engage in non-stop discussions until this matter is resolved.
