Super Bowl 2011: Green Bay Packers Players Frustrated With Super Bowl Team Photo

Rey JeffersonJan 26, 2011

Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley and linebacker Nick Barnett are two very key players for the Super Bowl bound Green Bay Packers. But, for historians and football fans all around, after this season; if you take a look at a Packers team photo from Super Bowl XVL, Finley, Barnett and others will not be seen in these photos.

The news broke yesterday after Finley (@JermichaelF88) and Barnett (@NickBarnett) hit Twitter with their frustration. Finley tweeted, “We got hurt playing for the team. Its not like we got injury bs'in around…And its a team rule! Shame.”

He followed that up with another tweet stating, “I never trip abt anything, but the way IR players are getting treated not cool".

Barnett also hit Twitter saying, “Kinda sad... Found out basically IR guys can not be in team picture... It's kinda sad to think.. Just goes you injured yourself you not part.”

Finley also did an interview on Sports Center late yesterday in which he was able to voice his opinion and comment on his tweets.

Finley said during his interview with ESPN that, "I'm a team player, but at the same time, like I was saying, we got hurt playing with the Packers. We got hurt going to war. ... The Super Bowl is like a memory. You never forget that. I think everybody should enjoy the festivities that the Packers and the team are doing. That's all I'm saying."

I completely agree with the players on this one. The main thing is the team aspect, these players got hurt playing for the team, and for them not to be included in the team photo make no sense.

I think it shows a blatant lack of respect for the players and proves even further that the NFL is a “what have you done for me lately league.”

Maybe the IR players should get together and take their own Super Bowl photo.
