An emotionless Jay Cutler watched as his Chicago Bears fell to the Green Bay Packers 21-14. The Bears quarterback aggravated a mysterious knee injury in the first half and returned for one drive in the second half before calling it a day.

Cutler was replaced by Todd Collins, who was later replaced by Caleb Hanie and the Bears were unable to overcome a 14-point fourth quarter deficit. Immediately after the game, Cutler's heart, character and competitive spirit were put in question.

How could a starting quarterback walk around on the sideline and not in the game?

Why was Cutler not wearing a headset and coaching the two backups in a tight game?

Never has an athlete received so much criticism from his fellow athletes for leaving a game injured. On Sunday night and Monday morning, Twitter was flooded with NFL players figuratively taking Cutler down at the knees.

Around noon on Monday, it was reported that Cutler had torn his MCL in his left knee. People that had warned about judging the situation before MRI results came in began to look like geniuses. Doctors reported that Cutler was smart to not play on the injured knee.

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears' medical staff reported the injury as a tear to save Cutler's image. How could you go into the 2011 season with a quarterback who has such a negative image and likely zero confidence?

Regardless of the results, this situation led to some interesting Twitter activity.

Here are the best five tweets of the day by past and present NFL players. Too bad Channing Crowder didn't get in on the action...
