I want to start by saying that this is one of my first posts on Bleacher Report even though I have been visiting this site for several years to read up on the Denver Broncos. I grew up a Denver Broncos fan in a family that has had season tickets since the beginning.
The Denver Broncos are a part of me. I am old enough to remember the years of Elway, Davis and McCaffery and I am well aware of the legacy that they hold in Denver to this day. I am sure that I am not alone in saying that those guys were everything that was good about shaping what the Denver Broncos are and what they stand for.
Most true Broncos fans would agree with me when I say that the integrity of the Broncos has been tarnished over the last several months and that there is a substantial amount of work to be done to restore what has been lost.
I absolutely believe that what has been lost will be restored.
I have stood in the background while following this site very closely. However, today I felt compelled to contribute. There have been many posts on this site about Tim Tebow and whether or not he is the quarterback that Denver has been looking for since Elway retired. I don't know whether he is or not, but I will explain why I am more proud to be a Denver Broncos fan today than I have ever been!
My wife and I are brand new parents and it is amazing how much differently you view the world when you are a parent. I am very protective of my son and I have the highest hopes that he will turn out to be a good person and a good man.
The world we live in today is much different than when I was growing up. It is hard to look into the world and find something concrete that is good and just.
The world we live in today is becoming increasingly corrupt. Everywhere you look there are bad influences. There are very few role models that my son can look up to as he grows up.
As a die-hard Broncos fan, I tuned in to the Tim Tebow documentary last night on ESPN and I came out of it with a completely different view.
Say what you want about Tim's athletic ability and how it translates to the NFL game. I don't care about that right now. Tim Tebow has made me proud to be a Broncos fan. I have found someone that I hope that my son can look up to.
Anyone who watched that special last night and did not come out of it believing that Tim Tebow is not the ultimate role model needs to look in the mirror. As I said before, I want my son to grow up to be a good man and if he grows up to be half the man that Tim Tebow is then I will have been successful.
For those who did not see the documentary last night, Tebow showed the world his path to the draft. He defied his critics en route to being a first round draft pick. More importantly, he showed the world how good of a man he is. His work ethic is unmatched.
He has the ultimate respect for life and the opportunities that he is granted. He has had every opportunity to react to all of the criticism negatively, instead, he only works harder without making excuses. The criticism drives him to work harder. He will not allow himself to fail.
On top of all of those qualities, his morals are intact. I am not saying that Tim Tebow is perfect—nobody is. I am saying that I will support Tim Tebow in whatever he does.
Do I think that Tebow can be a successful quarterback for the Denver Broncos? Absolutely.
He will work harder than anyone else to make himself better. His desire to succeed will push him to improve. I did not realize just how bad his throwing motion was in college until I watched the documentary last night. He has improved dramatically and it will only get better.
I don't think we could have a better player to rebuild the image of the Denver Broncos.
I have a new-found hope today that there are good things in this world and good people. My son can grow up in a world with at least one good role model. As a Broncos fan, I hope that he has success on the field but I can be satisfied knowing that the Broncos have a top-notch leader.
Tim Tebow is a breath of fresh air in the world of professional sports where many athletes are disrespectful, spoiled, flashy and troublesome. I can assure you of one thing—Tim Tebow will never dance after a touchdown, he will never take his opportunities for granted and he will never live his life without treating everything and everyone with the ultimate respect.
The Denver Broncos will be lucky if Tim Tebow becomes the face of the franchise. They are lucky to have him and we are lucky to be able to see the man that he is. We are all lucky to be able to look up to Tim Tebow.
I agree with Elway when he says that there is nobody that can come into Denver and say that they don't want Tim Tebow. GO BRONCOS!!!
