Fantasy Football Sleepers: Sneaky Week 13 Pickups To Stay Ahead of the Curve

If your roster is pretty much set this week, you may want to take a peak ahead to next week. I know you hear the phrase one opponent at a time, but that’s not the case in fantasyland. While people are struggling to fill out this week’s roster, be proactive and get a step ahead of them. Here are some targets with favorable Week 13 matchups.

Josh Freeman, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Freeman probably isn’t a popular choice this week as he’s facing Baltimore’s 10th ranked pass defense (210 yards allowed per game). Next week though, he takes on Atlanta’s 24th ranked pass defense (244.1). The last time he faced them he threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions. He added 26 yards on the ground.

Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams

Bradford is likely on the radar this week against Denver’s 20th ranked pass defense (232.1), but next week’s game is even juicier. He takes on Arizona’s 27th ranked pass defense (261.7). He struggled with three interceptions in their first meeting back in Week 1, but he threw for 253 yards.

Tim Hightower, Arizona Cardinals

Beanie Wells returned last week, but Hightower was still heavily featured with 12 carries for 62 yards and three catches for 24 yards. If Beanie aggravates the injury against the Niners on Monday, Hightower would be in line to start next week against the Rams.

Steve Breaston, Arizona Cardinals

Breaston has at least 92 yards in three of his past four games. He should deliver again against the Broncos, which should make him a popular waiver addition. He’s a player that’s worth owning down the stretch, so why not add him now.

Derek Hagan, New York Giants

Hagan is likely to benefit from the Giants’ injuries at wide receiver. If you wait until after he faces Jacksonville’s 27th ranked pass defense (264.6), you’ll have more competition to secure his services against Washington’s 29th ranked pass defense (280.1) next week.

Ben Obomanu, Seattle Seahawks

If Mike Williams is unable to go, Obomanu could get a big boost in targets against the Chiefs. If he’s successful, he’d be a popular waiver pick for next week’s game against Carolina.

Kevin Boss, New York Giants

Hagan isn’t the only player that should get a boost from the absence of Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith. Boss should be more involved, and his date with Washington next week is enticing.

Dustin Keller, New York Jets

Keller already played, and caught four passes for 49 yards against the Bengals. Next week he takes on the Patriots, who he torched for 115 yards in Week 2.

Seattle Seahawks Defense

I wouldn’t expect Seattle to be a  hot commodity this week taking on the Chiefs’ explosive offense. Next week though, they get to face Carolina. If you like to play the matchup game with your defense, you should secure them this week.
