Saints vs. Cowboys: Thoughts From New Orleans Win Over Dallas in Turkey Bowl
The New Orleans Saints defeated the Dallas Cowboys in what was a great second game on Thanksgiving Day.
While the Cowboys had a great second half and took the lead late in the fourth quarter, in the end Drew Brees had one more drive in him in order to give them the win.
Here are my immediate thoughts from tonight's game.

The Dallas Cowboys Believe In Jason Garrett
1 of 5
Despite losing in heartbreaking fashion, I learned that the Dallas Cowboys believe in interim coach Jason Garrett.
Garrett is well respected among the players, and is holding a tight ship in Dallas through this first three weeks as head coach. Jon Kitna continues to put up solid numbers in Garrett's system, and the defense showed up in the fourth quarter against Drew Brees and the Saints.
Even though the game resulted in a loss, I believe Jerry Jones has more confidence that Jason Garrett can be running the Dallas Cowboys for years to come.
Reggie Bush Has Quite A Bit Of Rust To Get Rid Of
2 of 5
Today, Reggie Bush played in his first game since late September when he sustained a major leg injury.
Though Bush was at full speed, there was clearly a lot of rust Bush needed to shake off.
The first sign was a drop in the red zone that would have been a touchdown. Instead the Saints ended up settling for a field goal.
The biggest play of all, though, was the fumble on the punt return. Not only did it change the momentum of the game, but it almost cost the Saints a win in the end.
Hopefully Bush avoids these mistakes in the upcoming weeks, as the Saints continue to play tough competition.
Drew Brees Continued To Prove He Is Among The Elite Quarterbacks
3 of 5
Drew Brees might not have put together a game as high as his standards, but finished strong in the end.
Brees capped off a drive that in the end won the game for the Saints. The momentum was with the Cowboys, but Brees continued his success against the questionable Dallas secondary and torched them with the deep ball.
His ability to be clutch is one of the many reasons he is mentioned with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady as the league's elite.
Despite The Win, The Saints Are Not The Same Team From Last Year
4 of 5
The Saints played like an elite team, as they ended up winning a game that they were favored in. However, this isn't the same team from a year ago when they went to the Super Bowl.
First off, the consistency. New Orleans looked great in the first quarter, but tailed off in the last two and a half quarters.
The running game is still not as big of a factor as it needs to be, partially due to injuries. Speaking of injuries, Jeremy Shockey was definitely missed in the passing game.
The defense is also not producing any turnovers, giving up big pass plays to Dallas in the second half.
New Orleans has quite a lot of work to do if they want to return to Super Bowl form in 2010.
Roy Williams Cost The Cowboys Today's Victory
5 of 5
Why is it that whenever the Cowboys lose, Roy Williams is always surrounded in the negativity? Today, there is good reason to blame Williams for the Dallas loss.
Williams was stripped by Malcolm Jenkins at the Saints 10 yard line, prompting the game-winning drive for the Saints.
The work ethic and toughness of a Roy Williams has always been brought into question. Now, his future as a Cowboy seems to be in doubt after this season.
With Dez Bryant and Miles Austin being the future at receiver, the Williams fumble ended any hope of the Cowboys playing the Super Bowl in their own building.
