Michael Vick for NFL MVP: Making the Case for the League's Top Honor

Michael Vick is making a statement as the Eagles quarterback on Monday Night Football tonight. His first half against the Redskins has this Philadelphia Eagles team looking like a legitimate contender in the NFC.

Despite missing three games due to injury, I believe tonight is the night that Michael Vick begins to earn consideration for the league's MVP.

Yes, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are having great seasons. However, the performance Vick is showing this season makes me a believer, and has convinced me that he is the best NFL player in 2010.

Michael Vick Has Proven to Be Capable of Being a Pocket Passer

Michael Vick is one of the league's biggest surprises because of his ability to be a pocket passer.

To start Monday's game, all seven of Vick's passes were within the pocket. Having Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and the rest of the young receiving corps helps make Vick that much more effective.

Vick's ability to be a polished quarterback inside the pocket is the reason he is playing at a level unlike many quarterbacks this season.

This is not a secret. Since his entrance into the NFL, Michael Vick has been one of the more dynamic quarterbacks this game has ever witnessed.

Now that he is an effective pocket passer, we are seeing Vick's true potential. Not only is Vick an accurate thrower, he has become much smarter with his legs.

Vick has become much harder stop on the ground because of the major threat he now provides in the running game.

By the end of the season Michael Vick is going to near 2,500-plus total yards, making him one of the more valued players in football today.

Michael Vick Is Finishing What He Started

The beginning of the 2010 season is when Michael Vick began receiving recognition as the league's best player. Then he went down with a rib injury, and was out for three weeks. Questions continued to surround the Eagles, who were in a quarterback controversy.

Vick quieted the doubters by finishing what he started earlier in the season, making his case to be considered the league's best player.

Most players take a few games of playing time to recover from that sort of injury. Instead, Vick returned to his early form and put the Eagles back to their winning ways.

In case you missed it, Michael Vick put on a show for NFL fans around the country in the first half.

Vick already has five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) against a Redskins team coming off the bye, and are at home.

Typically, the league's most valuable player has the ability to take over games. Vick has shown the potential to do so in the past, but tonight is the start of something special in Philadelphia.

After tonight's first half against the Washington Redskins, I am convinced that Michael Vick makes the Eagles the team to beat in the wide-open NFC.

Vick leads a high-powered offense that has some of the best receivers in the game. The Eagles defense has continued to show up in recent weeks, and has begun playing like the defenses of old in Philadelphia.

The presence of Michael Vick has made this team into a team to be reckoned with in the NFC. The NFL MVP race must involve Michael Vick, whose presence on the football field has made the Philadelphia Eagles a potential Super Bowl contender.
