Randy Moss Waived: Miami Dolphins Interested?

Danny DolphinNov 1, 2010

According to multiple reports, the Minnesota Vikings are going to waive Randy Moss. Itโ€™s surprising because they acquired him in a trade with New England just weeks ago.

In four games with the Vikings this season, he caught only 13 balls for 174 yards and two touchdowns. If you saw his press conference Sunday night, itโ€™s clear the guy is angry. You can watch it below.

Now the question is does another team take a flyer on the future Hall-of-Fame receiver? One thing is for sure: He had to have done something to really piss the Vikingsย organizationย off. Itโ€™s no secret heโ€™s a head-case.

Dolphins Interested?

It would make too much sense.

Moss would absolutely make Miami a better football team. This is a gift just waiting for Miami to sign off.

In combination with Brandon Marshall, heโ€™d strike immense fear in the defense and the running game would improve as a result. ย In addition, he gives Miami something they donโ€™t have: A deep threat. He still has the speed and burst to be a factor down the field, and the passing game would have an opportunity to flourish.

Moss and Marshall would be the most dangerous receiving tandem in the NFL. They compliment each other incredibly well on the field. Marshall is the muscle underneath, while Moss is the flash on the outside.

Any team claiming Moss would have to pay the rest of his $6.4 million salary. If Moss goes unclaimed, the Vikings owe him the rest of this contract. The Bills have the first chance to get him since they own the leagueโ€™s worst record. Waivers end Tuesday at 4 PM.

Would he be a locker-room distraction? Maybe. And would it be a bad idea to have two receivers with a history of erratic behavior in the past on the same roster? It certainly well could be. Then you add in the fact that this is a team that prioritizes the run. Would there be enough balls to go around?

Even after taking those things into consideration, I still think it would be a great move. There is no risk!

They arenโ€™t giving anything up and he can be a โ€œrentalโ€ for the rest of the year. He would take this offense to another level. And if it doesnโ€™t work out, they could always release him.

Moss could be the answer, at least in the short term, for a Dolphins offense lacking in the very skills that he brings to the table.
