NFL Fantasy Football Week 8: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Advice

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballOct 30, 2010

POTENTIAL QB SLEEPER PICK OF THE WEEK

Jon Kitna (Dallas Cowboys)

Kitna came in for an injured Tony Romo (fractured left collarbone) in Week 7 against the New York Giants, and went 16-for-33 for 187 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

With Romo expected to miss six to eight weeks (at least), Kitna will make his first start since 2008 when he played for the Detroit Lions in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The Jaguars have allowed the most passing touchdowns in the league (16) through seven weeks, and they have allowed nearly 20 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks.

Kitna has enough talent around him in the Cowboys’ offense to play effectively in Romo’s place, particularly in favorable matchups.  This is one of those weeks, and he makes for a solid bye-week replacement for Week 8.

POTENTIAL RB SLEEPER PICK OF THE WEEK

LeGarrette Blount (Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Arizona)

Blount led the Buccaneers in carries last week, as had 11 carries for 72 yards against the St. Louis Rams. Cadillac Williams appears to have fallen into third-down duty, as he had eight receptions and a receiving touchdown in the game, but Blount could be in line for early down and goal line work no matter how the workload is split between the two.

Tampa Bay will take on the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, in Week 8.  So Blount could build on his success from last week as he tries to give the Buccaneers a more substantial option in the backfield.

Don’t expect 20 carries, but 10 to 15 carries with a solid yardage total and a touchdown do not seem to be out of the question.  Blount makes for a solid flex play this week if you need one.

POTENTIAL TE SLEEPER PICK OF THE WEEK

Tony Moeaki (Kansas City Chiefs)

Moeaki has not scored a touchdown since before the Chiefs’ Week 4 bye, has nine receptions over those same three games after having 12 in the first three games of the season.  But the rookie looks likely to rebound this week against the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo has allowed 13.3 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, including a league-high seven touchdowns to the position.

There may not be an easier bye week fill-in at any position this week if you have a need and already own or can grab Moeaki and make it happen.  He is a worth considering as a low-end TE1.
