NFL Fantasy Football: Week 6 Sleepers: Matt Cassel, Brandon Jacobs and More

Ryan LesterOct 15, 2010

During the bye weeks, you often have to roll out less than ideal lineups, especially when your players are nicked up. That’s the nature of the beast. Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here are some under the radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you.

Matt Cassel, QB, Kansas City Chiefs: Ā I am anything but in love with Cassel this year. But, despite averaging 162.5 passing yards and one TD this year, he’s a decent player for the desperate of the desperate. He’s taking on Houston, the NFL's worst pass defense, which has been shredded for 320 yards per game and 11 TDs.

Mike Tolbert, RB, San Diego Chargers: Ā The starting gig will be going to Ryan Mathews soon, but Tolbert has earned the chance to be involved despite being held to 11-yards on 12 carries by the Raiders. However, he salvaged the day with a TD. He’ll be facing the St. Louis Rams this Sunday.Ā

Brandon Jacobs, RB, New York Giants:Ā Jacobs is another fine flex play this week as he takes on Detroit. He has scored in consecutive weeks and the Lions are near the bottom in every defensive rushing category.

Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis Rams: Ā I’m sure Danny Amendola will be a popular guy in fantasy lineups, but don’t forget about Gibson, who has 84 yards and a score over the past two weeks. Laurent Robinson doesn’t seem to be at full strength yet.

Legedu Naanee, WR, San Diego Chargers: Ā Assuming his hamstring is good to go, Naanee makes a nice desperation play against the Rams this week.

James Jones, WR, Green Bay Packers:Ā Ā With Jermichael Finley out for an extended period, and Donald Lee ailing, the Packers could go with a lot of three receiver sets. I like his chances more if Aaron Rodgers is playing, but even if it’s Matt Flynn, they are going to use more three WR sets.

Tony Moeaki, TE, Kansas City Chiefs: Ā Not a big game for Moeaki last week, but he has either a TD or 50 yards receiving in every game this year. Plus, he’s playing Houston.

Seattle Defense: Ā Seattle isn’t a sexy defense, but they are facing the Bears, who lead the league with 21 sacks allowed. Jay Cutler has improved his propensity to throw INTs, but if they ring his bell, the Bears could turn to Todd Collins, who has 5 INTs in 27 attempts.
