Oakland Raiders: Lane Kiffin's Words Taken Out Of Context
I watched the game Friday like many of you, and I can tell you Lane Kiffin and his team had that game all wrapped up. But like Kiffin said, we have no one else to look at for that position, so it is what it is.
When the game started, I was not too happy with the start of the offense's first two drives. By the third drive, the offense had appeared to warm up, and they took it to the house on a top tier defense, which impressed me a lot.
It actually made me all giddy because we have something to really look forward to this season. The defense, on the other hand, appeared to have the same old problems with stuffing the run.

Did anyone else see Kiffin tear into Ryan a bit on the sideline? I wonder what that was about (as if I didn't already know).
I read some articles this past weekend that just stink to high heaven. I agree that Kiffin should have more say who comes in and who goes home. But if you are a Raider's fan, you know how that goes.
You also know all the negative articles that come with being a Oakland Raider. I am happy Kiffin is calling his players out because they need that. They signed contracts to perform, not to be cheerleaders.
So Kiffin has every right to say, hey, these guys need to step it up. It does not mean he is looking to be fired. It means he is calling out these players to be what they getting paid to be.
So I don't see how one could think Kiffin is asking to be fired for doing something that many coaches in the NFL do all the time. I hate it even more when they quote what was said but not what question leads up to that answer.
I bit into the off-season stories about the he-said, she-said crap. I'm not going to bite into Kiffin wanting to get fired. I see it for what it is at this point.
In the end I guess you have to take it for what it is. Like the Enquirer, you have to report something when nothing else is news worthy. Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders can always stir up the pot.
