Fantasy Football Sleepers: Week 4

Ryan LesterOct 2, 2010

During the bye weeks you often have to roll out less than ideal lineups, especially when your players are nicked up. That’s the nature of the beast. Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here are some of the under-the-radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you.

Bruce Gradkowski, QB, Oakland Raiders

Gradkowski has had some moments, including a 308-yard, three-TD game in Pittsburgh last year. Still, he was an afterthought after Jason Campbell came on board. He makes an intriguing play against Houston’s NFL-worst pass defense.

Matt Hasselbeck, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Many thought the Seahawks would start looking to the future with Charlie Whitehurst by now with their early schedule against the Niners, Broncos, and Chargers. Surely they would be 0-3 and there isn’t a better team to debut him against than the Rams. Guess again. The ‘Hawks are 2-1 and Hass has a good chance to put up solid numbers against St. Louis’ 24th-ranked pass defense.

Kenneth Darby, RB, St. Louis Rams

Darby is only on the radar if Steven Jackson’s groin keeps him out of action. If he is, he’s a decent flex play against Seattle.

Justin Forsett, RB, Seattle Seahawks

It’s easy to overlook the 5’8″ RB, but that would be a mistake. He has 206 total yards through three games and coming off a 94-total-yard effort against the Chargers. He’s taking on the Rams, who he bludgeoned for 130 yards and two TDs in their last meeting.

Chris Ivory, RB, New Orleans Saints

Pierre Thomas is heading to a game-time decision. If he can’t go Ivory would be a decent flex play against the Panthers.

Davone Bess, WR, Miami Dolphins

Bess had 10 catches for 117 yards and a score the last time he faced New England. The Pats are tied for the lead with seven passing TDs allowed and are 25th in passing yards allowed. Bess is an especially good option in PPR leagues, but is a decent choice in standard leagues as well.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots

Aaron Hernandez is the Patriots TE that is flying off the shelves, but Gronkowski is the red-zone threat. If your league’s TEs have been picked over and you need help, give him a shot.
