MLB Daily Market Trends: A Full Schedule of Options
Moving Today's Market
A full schedule to kick off the weekend, and no afternoon games means lots of options for tonight. The biggest line move of the say sees Minnesota and comeback kid Francisco Liriano (2-3, 6.55 ERA) face Seattle and former Twin Carlos Silva (4-13, 5.93). Its no surprise that the betting percentages and line are following the Twins. Minnesota had an opening line at Pinnacle of -210, and are currently sitting at -241. Another major line move took place in the Toronto-Boston game, featuring Paul Byrd (7-10, 4.53) making his Red Sox debut. Boston opened as the underdog against Jays' ace Roy Halladay (13-9, 2.72) with +106 odds. They have since moved to -120 favorites, while only getting 52% of the moneyline bets. The Astros' current 8-game win streak isn't earning them too much respect as they face NL Cy Young favorite Brandon Webb (17-4, 2.88). Arizona is garnering 77% of the moneyline wagers, and the line has moved from an opening of the Diamondbacks at -129 to its current -141 at Pinnacle. A couple of matchups featuring a pair of promising young starters squaring off are also on the schedule. In Atlanta, Jair Jurrjens (11-7, 3.18) and the Braves play host to Matt Cain (7-9, 3.67) and the Giants. San Francisco and Cain won an August 4th matchup 4-2 against Jurrjens and Atlanta. In Los Angeles, the Brewers' Manny Parra (9-5, 4.02) faces Dodgers lefty Chad Billingsley (11-9, 3.07).
