Marshawn Lynch Trade: 10 Teams That Desperately Need Him Now
Marshawn Lynch is a hot commodity right now.
In his present state, he is one of three backs on a mediocre team, fighting over carries.
On another team he could be the featured back and possibly be going to the playoffs.
According to all the insiders, these are the teams in play for him.
Let's take a look at the teams in order of where he would be the best fit.
10. Detroit Lions
1 of 10
This team hasn't come up as much as some of the others but let's look at them.
Do they have a need: Yes, although most people might think on the surface that the Lions are set at running back, they are not. Last year's starter Kevin Smith is injured again. And as explosive as Jahvid Best is, all you have to do is look at his college career to see how often he gets hurt.
He is battling a toe injury right now.
Does he fit that need: Yes, Lynch can carry for the tough yards and still leave enough for Best.
Would he want to play there: Uh, no. Probably not, if given the choice.
Will he end up there: No.
9. San Diego Chargers

It's bad enough that they are going without Vincent Jackson, if rookie Ryan Mathews keeps getting hurt it will be all on Philip Rivers' shoulders.
Do they have a need: Yes. As much faith as they are putting into Mathews, he is still an unproven commodity in the pros. And behind him they would rather give it to fullback Mike Tolbert than scat-back Darren Sproles. Yes, he'd be sharing carries but with one guy instead of two.
Does he fit that need: Yes, he can be thunder to Sproles and Mathews' lightning.
Would he want to play there: Probably. The weather is certainly better.
Will he end up there: Not likely.
8. St. Louis Rams

Steven Jackson is only 27 but he has taken so many hits over the years that you would think he is much older.
Do they have a need: Yes. No one will argue that Jackson is a beast, but he has already played longer than most running backs do. Bringing in Lynch to share the load would lengthen Jackson's career.
Does he fit that need: Yes. They both run similarly.
Would he want to play there: I doubt it. Another losing team.
Will he end up there: No.
7. Philadelphia Eagles
4 of 10
A battering ram could be what the Eagles need for short yardage.
Do they have a need: Yes. And No. LeSean McCoy is definitely a feature back, but he can be stopped at times. And maybe with a guy like Lynch, they win that first game against the Packers when Vick's quarterback sneak got stopped.
Does he fit that need: Yes, as long as he doesn't mind splitting carries again.
Would he want to play there: Maybe. He might want play with Vick.
Will he end up there: Doubtful. Although stranger things have happened. Like Vick getting a starting job again.
6. Denver Broncos

Soon they will find out that if Maroney is the answer, what was the question.
Do they have a need: Maybe. As in, maybe they want to see what Maroney and Moreno can do.
Does he fit that need: Yes, If those two are busts, he would fit in nicely.
Would he want to play there: With Tebow? Who wouldn't.
Will he end up there: Doubtful. They have been mentioned. But not likely.
5. Washington Redskins

Everyone knows Shanahan goes through running backs like Hef does Viagra.
Do they have a need: Yes. The word is out that Portis in on his last legs. His yards per rush back that up.
Does he fit that need: Yes, Shanahan can make any one off the street a 1,000 back. What more a guy with real talent.
Would he want to play there: Maybe. Other than TO, everybody wants to play with McNabb.
Will he end up there: Possible. But there is a chance if they outbid everyone else.
4. New England Patriots
7 of 10
Although the Pats are in their division, they might have the best off with all of their stockpiled picks.
Do they have a need: Yes. Fred Taylor, old and banged up. Kevin Faulk, old and out. Sammy Morris, oft-injured. Only option right now is the Law Firm.
Does he fit that need: Yes, and very well.
Would he want to play there: If he can live with playing the Patriot way, sure.
Will he end up there: Very Possible. Especially if the Bills want draft choices.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
8 of 10
There are rumors that Cadillac might need an transmission work.
Do they have a need: Yes. Cadillac Williams is constantly getting hurt and none of the guys behind him look like the answer in the future. (Except for possibly LeGarrette Blount)
Does he fit that need: Yes, he is only 24 and can carry the pill for years to come.
Would he want to play there: Maybe. He might like what they are building over there.
Will he end up there: Possible. They have been mentioned via the rumor mill.
2. New Orleans Saints
9 of 10
With Bush out, Thomas might be getting over worked.
Do they have a need: Yes. There was a rumor floating around that they were thinking about bringing it Ladell Betts to try out for the team.
Does he fit that need: Kind of, but he would take carries from Pierre Thomas. But maybe Thomas could then catch more balls.
Would he want to play there: Uh, yes. Everybody loves a winner.
Will he end up there: Very possible. It looks like Bush won't be coming back.
Green Bay Packers
10 of 10
Everyone seems to think that they are the front runners.
Do they have a need: Hell yes. With Ryan Grant out for the year, the Packers are hurting. As of right now quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the team leader in rushing touchdowns.
Does he fit that need: Yes. They need someone to carry the ball and average more than their leading rusher is averaging (2.9 ypc).
Would he want to play there: Yes, he won't mind the cold. And he won't mind winning games.
Will he end up there: Yes. Signs point to Green Bay figuring out a way to pull this off.
