2010 Fantasy Football Week 3 Rankings: Tight Ends
Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books, and it was a good one for tight ends around the league. Four players at the position had 100-yard receiving days, and 10 players had at least 70 receiving yards. Still, a lot of the tight end talent around the league is young, so inconsistency is bound to be an issue. Let’s dissect this week’s matchups and see how your tight end grades out in our Fantasy Football Week 3 Tight End Rankings.
1. Dallas Clark (Indianapolis Colts) @ Denver
We hope you’re not surprised by this ranking. You certainly shouldn’t be. Clark amassed 83 yards on five receptions, including one for a touchdown last week as Indy beat the Giants in the Manning Bowl. Clark, who leads the Colts in targets (and all tight ends in receptions and receiving yards), has put together back-to-back games of 80+ yards and one score, and you shouldn’t expect it to end this week against the Broncos. That’s especially true when you consider that he carved up Denver like a Thanksgiving turkey last season. In a Week 14 win over the Broncos in 2009, Clark had five catches for 43 yards and three touchdowns.

2. Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers) @ Seattle
Gates piles up touchdown catches like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan pile up drug arrests, and he proved that once again last Sunday by finding the end zone twice as part of a five-catch, 57-yard performance. Gates leads the Chargers with 10 receptions and three touchdowns on the year, and is second with 133 receiving yards and 13 targets. And while his opponent this week, Seattle, has yet to allow a touchdown grab to an opposing tight end, only three teams have given up more receptions to players at the position. Look for another solid game from him in the Great Northwest this weekend.

3. Jermichael Finley (Green Bay Packers) @ Chicago
Finley was one of the aforementioned players who accumulated 100 receiving yards in Week 2, as he scorched the Bills for 103 yards on just four receptions. The only thing missing from the game was a touchdown catch, something Finley has yet to produce in the season’s first two weeks. That will change this week in Chi-town. The Bears have allowed more receptions to opposing tight ends than any team in the NFL, and Finley played well in Chicago last season when the Packers traveled there. In a Week 14 win, he had five catches for 70 yards.
