Cleveland Browns Vs Baltimore Ravens: Josh Cribbs Does Not Forget 2009 Late Hit

Daniel WolfSep 24, 2010

The Cleveland Browns will meet their AFC North division rival when they go to Baltimore to face the Ravens in Week 3.

Back in Week 10 of the 2009 season, the Browns were coming off of their bye week and faced the Ravens.

They lost 16-0 in a game that was one of their most competitive at that point in the season.

Many Browns fans have forgotten about a very important retaliation hit that was laid onto Pro Bowler Josh Cribbs in the final moments of the game and forced Cribbs to be carted off the football field in a neck brace.

The hit started an avalanche of new-found hate for the former Browns franchise, seeing as how the hit was supposedly an accident when Dwan Edwards nailed Cribbs on the chin with his forearm.

This happened after former quarterback Brady Quinn went to block Ravens defender Terrell Suggs earlier in the game and went for his knees.

In the he-said-this and he-said that banter that went back and forth in the press between the two teams, a hated rivalry was once again reborn.

Do not doubt that Cribbs remembers that hit and he is out for blood this weekend.

Not to hurt any Ravens players, but to light up the scoreboard and give the Browns inept second half offense a needed boost throughout the entire game.

How the Ravens respond remains to be seen.

No one wants to go out and hurt another player on the opposing team, but tell that to Suggs who may be looking for revenge.

Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini said this week that Cribbs will get more touches in Week 3 and you can bet that even Mangini knows that Cribbs is out to burn the Ravens after getting hit hard one season ago.
