Buffalo enters Week 3 dead last in the league in a number of offensive categories including total yards (176 YPG), passing yards (89 YPG), and points scored (8.5 PPG). The defense has been average defending both the run and the pass. The miserable offense was on the field for 29:04 and was able to accumulate 14 first downs while converting only 33 percent of their 12 third down attempts. They also turned the ball over twice. Their 16th ranked defense allowed 255 yards passing and 91 yards on the ground.
The Patriots are coming off a very frustrating loss to the Jets and enter this matchup with the 9th ranked passing attack in the NFL after racking up 248 yards through the air with only 52 yards rushing. WR Aaron Hernandez was the stand out player for this offense hauling in six catches for 101 yards. New England converted 5-of-11 third down attempts with 20 first downs and three turnovers. Their defense allowed 220 pass yards and 136 rushing yards.
Buffalo is just 4-9 ATS its L/13 confrontations against AFC East opponents. They’ve also failed to cover each of their L/6 Week 3 games. New England is 22-8-1 ATS in its L/31 games following a SU loss and 9-4-1 the L/14 times they played off an ATS defeat. Though the Pats have won six of the seven most recent times they were installed favorites of 10 or more points, they managed to cover only two of those games.
