Chicago enters Week 2 after stealing a win vs. Detroit on a call that will be talked about all season long. QB Jay Cutler completed 23-of-35 passes for 372 yards through the air to go with a TD/INT ratio of 2/1. The star of the game though was RB Matt Forte, who had trouble pacing the ground game with 50 yards and a fumble, but he was the leading receiver hauling in seven catches for 151 yards and two scores. WR Devin Aromashodu added five receptions for 71 yards. The Bears defense picked backup QB Shaun Hill for an INT and recovered two fumbles.
Dallas shot itself in the foot throughout Week 1’s loss that consisted of 10+ penalties with the most crucial coming on the last play of the game that cost them the win. QB Tony Romo threw for 282 yards and one TD while completing 65 percent of his passes. The ground game was pretty non-existent as Marion Barber and Felix Jones combined to run for only 77 yards. WR Miles Austin had a huge first game hauling in a team leading 10 catches for 146 yards and a TD. Rookie WR Dez Bryant had a nice debut making eight receptions for 56 yards. The Cowboys defense sacked Donovan McNabb once.
The Bears have been very poor when dogged winning outright only four times in their L/16 tries while posting a 4-11-1 ATS tally dating back to 2008. In road games the L/2 seasons, they’re 5-11 SU & 5-10-1 ATS. In their L/6 games off a division win, Chicago’s 2-4 SU & 1-5 ATS. The Cowboys have gotten the job done at home since 2008, making bettors very happy winning 14 of 18 SU while posting an 11-7 mark ATS. Four of the L/5 meetings between these two teams have played ‘Under’ the closing ‘total’.
