There are only a handful of Major League Baseball games where the fans get to see two teams square off in throwback jerseys. These are some of the most fun games to watch, regardless of what teams are playing.

Many of the jerseys are classics and bring back memories when they are seen on today's modern players. For older generations, these jerseys bring back the olden days when players were seen with curved and shorter bills on their hats, baggy uniforms, high socks, and quirky windups.

Not to say today's version of uniforms is any better, but it sure is different. Now many players wear tighter pants, and keeping their socks high is a rarity. Many players hats are not that curved anymore, and some are completely straight.

When watching the games that feature throwback uniforms, it really makes one think about how the trends of the sport have changed over the past few decades.

Which teams have the coolest jerseys, though? Here is a short list of the ones I prefer, and be sure to comment on any that you like or that you felt I left off the list.

No. 10: The Los Angeles (Brooklyn) Dodgers

This is one of the greatest throwback jerseys, not only for its appearance, but also because of what it represents. The Brooklyn Dodgers enjoyed success wearing these uniforms, and they are great to see, even though they are rarely worn.

No. 9: The Oakland Athletics

The Oakland A's throwback uniforms are very sharp. The colors pop out at you the minute your eyes see them. These uniforms are great to seen worn, especially with the high socks and stirrups.

Many great players have rocked these uniforms, including Rollie Fingers and Dennis Eckersley, who were two of the greatest pitchers of all time on the Oakland A's. These uniforms do a great job of capturing the style of a few generations ago.

No. 8: The Baltimore Orioles

How can you look at these uniforms without thinking of Halloween?

The Orioles mascot is the best part, though, and he made the uniforms. With only the colors, the uniforms are average and look a lot like the San Francisco Giants. The Oriole bird truly makes the uniforms with his cooky smile and large-billed cap

No. 7: The Houston Astros

Man are these uniforms colorful!!

There aren't many uniforms today with colors this bright, but looking back on it now, I wish there were more. These are very cool, in my opinion, because of their sharpness as well.

It must have been a distraction for the opposing pitcher to be trying to hit a target with an explosion of bright colors in his peripherals.

No. 6: The Pittsburgh Pirates

It sure makes one think of the Steelers when looking at these uniforms. They sure are yellow.

The thing that makes these special are the pinstripes, though. Without the pinstripes, these uniforms would make the Pirates look like the mustard bandits. Another thing about the uniforms is the pants color. Rarely do any teams nowadays where black pants, so these also make the throwbacks unique.

No. 5: The San Diego Padres

These uniforms may not be very attractive, but they sure do get your attention!

Brown and yellow is a rather odd mix of colors. You don't see a lot of brown in uniforms today. Maybe because it is a rather dull color scheme, but it still makes these uniforms special because of it. Also, the three stripes on the stirrups add a flashy twist to these rather dull uniforms.

No. 4: The Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have had many changes in their uniforms over the years, but these ancient throwbacks have seemed to be forgotten. The colors are bright and loud and really catch one's eye.

The thing that makes these uniforms, though, is the upside down trident that makes the "M" in Mariners. I think that it is really cool, and it is definitely one of a kind.

No. 3: The Philadelphia Phillies

These uniforms are great for several reasons.

First of all, they catch your eye. Both colors are not original colors that you would find in a 12-pack of crayons, but instead maroon and a shade of baby blue. This makes the uniforms very unique.

Second of all, is how simple they are. There is only a "P" in the top right hand corner of the front of the jerseys, but it makes the jersey special. It is a very simple design, and in this case, it worked out nicely.

Lastly, the way the "P" is shaped is very different and makes one have a second look. It is an eye-catcher, especially with its rare maroon color, and really adds the final touch to these great throwback jerseys.

No. 2: The New York Yankees

These uniforms may be simple, and they may not technically be a total throwback, but they represent one of the most storied franchises in Major League Baseball history. It would be a crime not to have them on this list, even if they are plain jerseys.

There are some positives about the jerseys themselves, though.

The pinstripes throughout the entire jersey are very cool, and the simplicity of the uniform makes them special. Also, the way that the "N" and the "Y" come together to form the sign on the front of their jerseys and their hats is another cool part of the jerseys.

At first glance, you can not tell what the symbol means, but everyone knows because the Yankees are such a popular teams. You either love 'em or you hate 'em, but you gotta respect their history AND their jerseys.

No. 1: The Chicago White Sox

How many of you expected this one?

These jerseys are rarely seen being worn, but are the best looking around. They are simple, yet elegant. Not too bright and not too fancy, but certainly not boring.

The colors go well together, are nice to look at, and they do not blind your eyes like many of the past jerseys did.

The way the "SOX" is written across the middle of the jersey makes one think that maybe this could be the Boston Red Sox. These colors are similar to the ones that are currently used in the Red Sox uniforms today. It would also make sense to have the Red Sox and Yankees close to each other, but even though Boston's old uniforms featured a unique pair of socks, they are not as cool as these uniforms.

Another good part of these jerseys is how the design is only featured on certain part of the jersey. This makes them different as well, and adds to the simplicity of the jersey.

They may not have as much pizazz as some of the previous jerseys, but instead contain a perfect balance between simplicity, awesomeness, and a good color combination.
