The 2005 MLB Draft has brought in some of the youngest and greatest hitters of todays game. Not only hitters, but pitchers too.

The 2005 Draft has created a pool of young, power hitting, power pitching athletes that are some of the best in todays game.

Here is a look at some of these athletes that clubs took a chance on, and came into the bigs surprising everyone.

Troy Tulowitzki was selected in the first round with the 7th pick by the Colorado Rockies.

Tulo has become a five-tool-player ever since joining the bigs. He hits for power and contact, has speed, and is known for his defense. He is one of the top shortstops in the league today.

Ryan Braun

Clay Buchholz

Clay Buchholz went in the supplemental first round, going 42nd overall.

Buchholz has developed into one of the great pitchers for a back-end rotation kind-of-guy. With aces like Lester and Beckett, Buchholz has helped the Red Sox in many different ways. He is a power pitcher with good stuff and has a lot of upside.

Jacoby Ellsbury

Jacoby Ellsbury was a compensation pick by the Red Sox, taking the 23rd pick.

Ellsbury is a good hitter, but what he's better at doing is running. He's regarded as one of the fastest players in the game, breaking the Red Sox all time record for stolen bases in a season.

Justin Upton

Justin Upton was the number one pick of the 2005 MLB Draft, taken by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Upton, brother to BJ Upton, is just one of todays young, great players of the game. Combine his power with his speed, and you get a great young star. He does strike out along with Mark Reynolds a lot, but it doesn't usually get to him.

Upton, along with Tulo, Braun, Zimmerman, and Buchholz have been All-Stars. Ellsbury the only one to not have played in an All-Star game.
