Roger Goodell's 18-Game Idea, Eli Manning's Gash and Other NFL News
In the News: Roger Goodell says the owners want to go to an 18 game season, possibly as soon as 2012
In My Opinion: Look, I'm a huge football fan, and I would love to see 2 more games that could replace preseason games, but I still think this is a bad idea. I think it will dilute the product, and make each game just a little less meaningful. Look at what's happened to NASCAR. The NFL has a good product. The season is the right length. Leave it be.
In the News: Eli Manning suffered a gash in his head against the Jets, but he's playing this weekend against the Ravens.
In My Opinion: No way, dude. I wouldn't want to play the Ravens after that. Just sayin'.
In the News: Stan Kroenky will assume full ownership of the St Louis Rams.
In My Opinion: I guess he met the 'non offensive' requirement the NFL has for owners. Apparently Al Davis is grandfathered in. No word yet on where (I mean *if*) he's moving the team.
In the News: The latest in the Albert Haynesworth drama: he has rhabdomyolysis.
In My Opinion: If he really has rhabdomyolysis, maybe he should have participated in the Redskins offseason workouts. Rhabdomyolysis can be caused by training significantly harder than what you are accustomed to, and if the little bit of training camp he participated in caused it, then he did indeed come in to camp out of shape, and he deserves to be benched.
Rhabdomyolysis can be very serious, and can lead to renal failure and death. Certainly not something you just bounce back from to play football in a couple of days.
I think it more likely Haynesworth had a case of the lazies, brought on by his displeasure with the new system, and possibly that he wasn't in great shape this year. Hopefully for the 'Skins they get it worked out.
