Mark Sanchez Loves Tom Brady
On Monday, I reported on this fine site about Tom Brady's hatred for the New York Jets (which you can read here http://bleacherreport.com/articles/441610-tom-brady-knocks-hard-knocks).
In my article I commended Brady on fueling the rivalry and urged other players to do so. I thought the Jets, who talked plenty of trash last season, were going to be foaming at the mouth to reply.
Well yesterday quarterback Mark Sanchez retaliated, sort of.
When asked in an interview yesterday if he felt the same way Sanchez said, "No, I love the Patriots, and I love Tom." To follow that statement up he looked into the camera and said "I love you Tom."
Honestly my stomach turned. Not because one man said he loved another. Oh no. I couldn't care less about man-love. It turned because this isn't what I wanted to come out of Brady's comments.
I wanted Rex Ryan to start spouting off four letter words like they were going out of style. Calling the Patriots every bad name in the book. I wanted a good old fashion war.
Thus far I haven't gotten that.
Instead of a battle, I get a Care Bear response from the quarterback who represents maybe the most foul-mouthed city in the country.
Maybe he's setting a good example for the kids, you know, turn the other cheek and all.
Come on, man! This is football!
I'm sure he was trying to be funny, but why not be funny and insulting at the same time?
Oh well, I guess.
Hopefully Darrelle Revis signs a new contract soon so the real mouth-piece of the team can weigh in on this.
