With 38 games left in the 2010 season, Mets fans everywhere are officially calling it football season. No experts or fans think the Mets are in any position to make a playoff run. Except me!

You can call me nieve or stupid, but I refuse to give up on this season. I've never been able to admit defeat and have always "believed" my team could win no matter where they stood in the standings. This season is no different.

The Mets have 38 games to jump over 6 teams and pull out of a 8 game hole in the NL Wild Card race. Likely? No. Impossible? Absolutley not, and here's why.

1. The Mets have the 3rd easiest schedule remaining playing teams like the Pirates, Astros, Brewers and Cubs.

2. 20 of our final 38 games are at home.

3. Also we play the Phillies 6 more times in September, which can very well bury us, but can also (providing we pull withing range)make things interesting.

Regardless of the realistic chances of the Mets making a run at the playoffs, little hope is better than no hope. Last year's season was lost before it could get started. add to that how well this year's team played the first half and you had excitement and hope for the Mets again. They've had a horrible and unexcusable second half. But keep theese final numbers in mind.Ithe Mets can somehow gain just 4 games and get to within 4 games of the Wild card lead, then they will be very much alive in the playoff race.

Finally, everyone knows about the collapsein 2007, and 2008 for that matter. in 2007 we blew a 7 game lead with just 17 games remaining. maybe this is the year that we can fnally utter the words "choke" to somebody else.
