Saturday night features a full slate of NFL games as the second week of the preseason rages on.
Dynasty league owners will be keeping a close eye on a number of players tonight as sleepers begin to emerge and position battles are solidified.
You’ll find this list is conveniently missing a lot of stars. Fact is, we already know what Aaron Rodgers and Chris Johnson can do.
Our role at DLF is to help you maximize your team’s potential, and that means providing you with as much information as possible for you to fill out your complete roster in a strategic and organized fashion.
With that in mind, here’s a rundown of players to watch on Saturday night:
1. Kareem Huggins, RB, TB
Word is he’s going to get some time with the first team offense today. If he continues to flourish the way has so far in camp, he could earn himself some significant playing time and push Derrick Ward off the Bucs roster.
2. Keiland Williams, RB, WAS
Veteran dynasty league owners know it’s a mistake to ignore any running backs in Mike Shanahan’s stable. Williams has drawn much praise from the coaching staff this Summer and is making a push to be on the final roster.
3. Willis McGahee, RB, BAL
Trade rumors are starting to circulate around McGahee. Do the Ravens feel comfortable enough with LeRon McClain as their primary backup to showcase Willis for a trade?
4. Dennis Dixon, QB, PIT
Another solid performance will force the Steeler coaching staff to consider starting him over Byron Leftwich in the season opener. At this point, he’s making it impossible for them not to notice.
5. Victor Cruz, WR, NYG
He couldn’t really do it again, could he?
6. Dexter McCluster, WR, KC
Another explosive preseason outing would have dynasty league owners rejoicing after risking a likely second round rookie selection on him.
7. Mike Thomas, WR, JAX
It looks like he’s the frontrunner for the No. 2 job opposite Mike Sims-Walker. He needs to start making plays on the field, though.
8. Sammie Stroughter, WR, TB
A touchdown in his first preseason game showcased his underrated ability. Let’s see if he can lock down a job as a starter in Tampa.
9. Sam Bradford, QB, STL
His first outing would have to classified as a “C.” Any steady progress would be great to see from his owners.
10. Steve Slaton, RB, HOU
Arian Foster has the starting job sewn up in Houston. Slaton needs to show some of his old ability soon or his role is going to diminish quickly.
11. Joe McKnight, RB, NYJ
McKnight’s saga this Summer has been well chronicled. At this point, he’s been a pretty big disappointment. A big performance on Saturday would help get him on the right track.
12. Brandon LaFell, WR, CAR
He started the Panthers first preseason game and promptly dropped what should have been Jimmy Clausen’s first touchdown pass. The knock on him has always been his inconsistency. Let’s see if he can put together a better performance.
13. Jason Campbell, QB, OAK
He looked good in his first game, as he has all Summer. Another solid effort would bring even more hope to Raider nation.
14. Jabar Gaffney, WR, DEN
Gaffney may be the biggest sleeper of them all right now. He’ll look to lock down the No. 1 wide receiver job in Denver against Detroit on Saturday night.
15. Mike Williams, WR, SEA
His 51 yard touchdown reception in week one made believers out of many. Head Coach Pete Carroll recently said he hasn’t looked this good since his Sophomore season at USC. Let’s see what he has in store for an encore.
Saturday night is sure to bring us some exciting action and a few surprises. You can bet we’ll break it all down for you here at DLF.
