Andy Reid Makes Donovan McNabb Fan Remove Redskins Jersey

Tim McManus of Philadelphia Sports Daily is reporting that a fan by the name of Jim Devlin was asked to remove his brand new Donovan McNabb Redskins jersey by security at the Philadelphia Eagles' practice yesterday.

The guards told him it was at the request of head coach Andy Reid.

Devlin told McManus that he wore the jersey to the practice and to a Phillies game to make a statement about the Eagles trading away their Pro-Bowl quarterback.

While Devlin complied with Reid's request, was it wrong of Reid to want the fan to take the jersey off?

I tend to think so, mostly because this is a free country, and all the guy did was wear another team's jersey—not much harm in that.

Was the fan bright to wear the jersey?

Hell no he wasn't. You couldn't pay me enough money to wear a division rival's jersey to an Eagles' practice, let alone anywhere in the City of Brotherly Love.

However, I do understand what Devlin was trying to say.

The Eagles traded away McNabb (to a divisional opponent nonetheless), and many times when a team does something of that nature with a popular player, the fans follow him.

I'm sure Devlin is just reminding Reid and the Eagles brass what a boneheaded mistake the trade was, and how it could seemingly bite them in the butt down the road.

With this debacle and Herremans' apologies for a harmless tweet, it doesn't seem that those in charge of the Eagles are using much common sense.
