Ranking Toronto Blue Jays Brandon Morrow's One-Hitter
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brandon Morrow pitched a one-hit shutout against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon. Though Morrow did not complete the no hitter, some would say that his pitching performance is better than most of the perfect games and no hitters this season.
Morrow struck out 17 Rays batters and only allowed four total base runners: two walks, one error and the one hit from Evan Longoria that broke up the bid for the no hitter with two outs in the ninth.
Morrow's gem Sunday afternoon ranks him second on my list of top pitching performances for the 2010 Major League season.
Red's pitcher Travis Wood's one-hitter July 10th @ Philadelphia
1 of 5
Travis Wood pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds ranks 5th on my list of top pitching performances of the 2010 baseball season.
On July 10th Wood pitched a one-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies in just his third major league start, but what is ironic about this start is that he wasn't a factor in the decision. Wood carried a perfect game into the ninth inning but gave up a double to Carlos Ruiz to lead of the inning.
The game went into extra innings with the Phillies winning 1-0 in the 11th. Wood went 9.0, had 8ks, gave up the one hit to Ruiz, and threw 109 pitches.
He got the No Decision with his counterpart Roy Hallday also going 9.0 and his team couldn't help him out at the plate.

Giants pitcher Matt Cain pitched a one-hitter against the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 28th.
Cain gave up a double to Mark Reynolds in the second inning for the only hit of the ball game for the Diamondbacks.
The Giants defeated the Diamondbacks 5-0 and Cain struck out nine batters, gave up one-hit, and didn't walk a single batter while throwing 122 pitches.
Dallas Braden's perfect game May 9th vs. the Rays
3 of 5
Dallas Braden pitcher for the Oakland Athletics pitched a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Braden struck out six Rays while compiling only 109 pitches. It was his 18th major league win. At 26, he became the youngest pitcher to throw a perfect game since Mike Witt of Angels in 1984.
Braden induced 21 outs in the field, 14 flyouts and 7 grounders.
Blue Jays Brandon Morrow's one-hitter August 8th vs. the Rays
4 of 5
Brandon Morrow struck out 17 Tampa Bay Ray batters. It was the second most strikeouts in Blue Jays history behind Roger Clemens who had 18 against Kansas City in 1998.
He needed 137 pitches, 97 of them he threw for strikes. He did not give up a hit until a weak ground ball got through the diving arms of second baseman Aaron Hill with two outs in the ninth.
