Bronson Arroyo and the Cincinnati Reds played streak busters on Wednesday night, recording a 3-1 victory over the New York Mets and taking the series 2-1.  The home series loss was the Mets first since mid-May and broke a streak of 6 consecutive series wins at Citi Field. 

Bronson Arroyo (8 IP, 7 H, 1 ER) out dueled Jonathon Niese (7 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 8K), improving to 9-4 and busting up the rookie's 5 game personal win streak.

Arroyo looked spectacular all night long, allowing a solo home run to Angel Pagan (2-4, RBI) and little else.  The man with hair that would make Hanson jealous was mmmbopping all evening and refused to break when New York threatened.

Coming into tonight's game the Mets were 18 for 55 (.327 avg) with runners in scoring position to start July, but Arroyo made sure they were far less opportunistic tonight (0-8 with RISP). 

The 33-year old has seemingly had the Mets number throughout his career, moving to 7-2 with a 3.31 ERA.
