Brett Favre just loves to have his name in the headlines. Although, this year has been rather quiet until recently. Year after year it's the same old story with Favre.

Will he play or will he not? It got so old that Green Bay finally had enough and made the best decision to name Aaron Rodgers the starting quarterback. This made Favre expendable and he was eventually traded to the New York Jets

Favre has become one of the most polarizing athletes in the sports world because of his antics. One does have to wonder how big of an ego does Favre have?

When, for the last three to four years, he's been holding his teams hostages with whether he was going to play the next season.

The kicker is that the media falls for Favre's trap every time. It didn't matter if it was Favre himself making statements for the local media or that the media in general was coming up with countless articles gauging if Favre would come back or not.

When he retired the first time with Green Bay and had his ceremony honoring him it wasn't the Packers organization that Favre communicated with that he wanted to come back it was the media in his hometown that made the announcement that Favre wanted to return to the Packers.

Luckily for the Packers and there fans they didn't change their decision about moving on from Favre and replacing him with Rodgers.

Eventually since the Packers weren't going to budge he was traded to the New York Jets. He played well in his only season with the Jets but injuries did catch up with him towards the end of the season. After his lone season with the Jets, Favre again announced that he was retiring.

That retirement didn't last long either just three weeks to be exact. In that time though there was plenty of speculation in the media with what Favre was going to do. Most of the rumors were of Favre going to the Minnesota Vikings

There were some players who loved the thought of having him in Minnesota and there were others who weren't so happy. Frank Tarkenton a former Viking wasn't happy with the way the Favre situation was handled.

Last season Favre had an outstanding season, but was battered by the New Orleans Saints who were the eventual Superbowl champions.

What do you know though in this current off-season Favre doesn't know if he is going to play again? Which isn't surprising because it has happened for the last three years. He's made announcements that he was retiring in the past two.

So, far he hasn't made any kind of announcement except that he's still not sure. He did have off-season ankle surgery that he's rehabbing from, but he's supposedly progressing well.

Favre will be coming back the answer was pretty much given when Favre told a local newspaper about how he would like to beat the Saints in the first game of the season.

Here's what Favre needs to do make a decision and stick to it! If he's unsure then he needs to stop announcing that he is going to retire as well.

His waffling over the years has tarnished his legacy there's no question about it. If he could just keep quiet and stop feeding the media ammunition to put his name in the paper it wouldn't be so old hearing about what Favre is up to.

The media also needs to ignore Favre or learn that when he says he's going to think about the decision he's going to make. The reality is that Favre will be playing.

As for fans of Favre they believe he comes back to play because he still has a passion for the game, which is true. In actuality what also Favre loves is to have his name in the headlines.
