Where Would the Miami Dolphins Be without Ronnie Brown?

There has been minimal talk regarding Ronnie Brown's contract issue. While chances are very, very slim that Brown will play somewhere else this year, why not pretend like he did?

Think about it. Where would the Miami Dolphins be without Brown running the ball?

Brown starts for the Dolphins when he is healthy. He is a great running back and is able to make big plays. He can carry the load in the Dolphins running game.

But Brown doesn't have to put the team on his shoulders. He splits carries with Ricky Williams. So while he is valuable, it can be argued that Brown isn't essential to the team.

I am not saying he isn't essential. I'm just saying there's an argument there.

His injuries have always been a problem. Even when he shares carries, he still gets hurt. A lot of times, players battle health issues because they are overworked. But that isn't always the case for Brown. He is simply injury-prone.

When Brown was sidelined last season, aging running back Ricky Williams carried the team and performed extremely well. Williams may not be Miami's long-term backfield answer, but he is definitely a short-term solution.

Although he is 33 years old, Ricky still has a few seasons left in him. He spent several seasons away from the NFL, which helps his future durability.

Without Brown, the Dolphins would still have a few years to find a new running back with Williams on the roster. They will eventually have time to find a back, and still operate as a successful running team.

So, while losing Ronnie Brown isn't something the Dolphins want, they could manage and still run the football successfully.
