In 2006, there were many rumors that the Pittsburgh Steelers would take a chance on USC tailback LenDale White.

There was talk that White was able to be a force at USC because most teams prepared for the elusive teammate of White, Heisman Trophy Winner Reggie Bush.

Some thought that White would be an excellent replacement for the recently retired Jerome Bettis.

The Steelers decided to to go a different direction, by trading up in the draft, and selecting Santonio Holmes out of Ohio State with the 25th pick in the draft.

White slid all the way to the 45th pick in the draft, being selected with the 13th pick in the second round by the Tennessee Titans.

Two years later, Whites Titans career hit a major speed bump, when the Titans selected the speedy Chris Johnson in the first round of the 2008 draft.

Johnson has become one of the most elite running backs in the NFL. White is currently without a team.

White was traded this off season to the Seattle Seahawks, and was later cut by his former college coach, Pete Caroll.

White is currently not under contract.

Many Steelers fans HATE LenDale White for his stomping of the Terrible Towel after the Titans victory against the Steelers towards the end of the 2008 season. The victory gave the Titans home field advantage through the playoffs.

It is also the last game the the Titans would win until eight games into the 2009 season. Prior to the end of the losing streak, White and Keith Bullocks (who also stomped on a Terrible Towel) apologized to Steelers Nation, and the curse was lifted.

All this being said, would you like to see LenDale White join the Pittsburgh Steelers?

The Steelers are set at starter, with Rashard Mendenhall, and are pretty good with their third down back, in Mewelde Moore.

The question marks are the back ups, with sixth round pick Jonathan Dwyer, and last years undrafted free agent Isaac "Red Zone" Redman competing for the primary back up role to Mendenhall.

Though White is suspended for the first four games of the season, there are still 12 other games, plus playoffs to consider. An injury to Mendenhall could ruin the Steelers chances if they don't have someone that can shoulder the load.

What do you think Steeler Nation? Would you welcome LenDale White to Pittsburgh?
