Dan Snyder: Change was 'necessary', is 'disappointed' with Haynesworth
Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder had a rare, briefย meet up with reportersย today at the unveiling of a new youth football field in Northern Virginia. ย Snyder had a little to say about the direction of the franchise, new redskins QB Donovan Mcnabb, and disgruntled DT Albert Hayenesworth. On making stunning changes to the coaching stand and front office by brining to Washington Bruce Allen as GM and Mike Shanahan as President and Head Coach, Snyder said . . . โWe had two rough years. This feels really like weโre going in the right direction,โ Snyder said. โReally excited about it. Iโm having a lot of fun. This guys are incredible and really fun to work with.โ โItโs exciting. You can feel the energy, the excitement out of Mike [Shanahan] and Bruce [Allen] and now adding Donovan really gets us going,โ he said. โWe have a lot of confidence โ weโve restored our confidence.โ To do that, changes needed to be made. Snyder replaced Vinny Cerrato with Allen as general manager, ousted Jim Zorn and hired Shanahan and oversaw the trade for McNabb. Given the state of the team at seasonโs end, change was needed, the owner says, and he can feel a culture change. ย โIt was necessary. We were 4-12 and going in the wrong direction,โ he said. โAll of the changes are to get us going in the right direction.
