Earlier today, various reports stated that former Syracuse quarterback and Duke point guard has signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints. Paulus had been working out with New Orleans and reportedly impressed the team in the drills.
Moments ago, on his personal Twitter account , FoxSports.com Senior Basketball Writer Jeff Goodman cited "sources close to Paulus" in stating that he did not believe that Paulus had received a contract with the Saints.
Goodman made the following statements in his three tweets on the subject:
"I spoke to Greg Paulus yesterday and he thought he played well in New Orleans Saintsminicamp, but had not been offered a contract. I have not spoken to Paulus today, but sources close to him told me he has not signed a contract with the NO Saints - contrary to reports. Paulus is still hoping to get a shot with the Saints or another NFL team - and will look to get into college hoops coaching if not."
Paulus played only one season for the Orange, following his four-year basketball career at Duke, starting all 12 games and compiling 2,024 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, and a school record 67.7 completion percentage, while leading the team to a 4-8 record in head coach Doug Marrone's inaugural season.
