NFL 2010 Draft Grades: Where Does Your Team Rank?

The draft has come and gone. Now it's time to find out how your favorite team did. With a draft this deep it was hard to mess it up, but some teams still did.
There were great picks, good picks and of course there were terrible picks. Some teams avoided bad picks altogether and some teams surprised us with how well they did.
Other teams bombed the draft and made decisions that are inexplicable. All in all, the draft provided excitement and drama.
So what grade did your team get?
Arizona Cardinals: C-
First Pick: Dan Williams
Best Pick: Dan Williams
Worst Pick: John Skelton
Best Value: Dan Williams
Analysis: The Arizona Cardinals got an absolute steal with Dan Williams as the 26th pick, thanks to the Jaguars blowing the 10th pick with Tyson Alualu.
They got a good player in the second round with Daryl Washington from TCU. A physical linebacker who has a chance to be a great pro.
There are two big problems with their draft class.
The first was taking Andre Roberts in the third with Dezmon Briscoe and Riley Cooper still on the board, both of whom I believe will have better pro careers.
The second was taking John Skelton with Levi Brown, Tony Pike, Jonathan Crompton and Dan LeFevour all still available. I don't think Skelton has the potential of any of those other picks.
The fact that they missed on these two picks and did not address their need at offensive line has hurt their draft class.
Atlanta Falcons: A
First Pick: Sean Weatherspoon
Best Pick: Sean Weatherspoon
Worst Pick: Kerry Meier
Best Value: Dominique Franks
The Falcons did a great job of addressing all of their needs big in the draft this season. They got a great talent from their first round pick in Sean Weatherspoon.
The picked up Kerry Meier with Dezmon Briscoe still on the board. That isn't to say that Meier is not a very good player, but Briscoe seems to have more potential to be a big-time player.
One of the most underrated picks they will have is Dominique Franks. Franks is a good athlete who can contribute immediately in the Falcons secondary.
Baltimore Ravens: C+
First Pick: Sergio Kindle
Best Pick: Sergio Kindle
Worst Pick: David Reed
Best Value: Dennis Pitta
The Ravens started off well, getting Sergio Kindle, Terrance Cody, Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. They then dropped off a lot.
David Reed was not a great pick with Riley Cooper going just a few picks later. They also did nothing to improve their defensive secondary, which needed to be a goal coming into the draft.
Buffalo Bills: C
Best Pick: C.J. Spiller
Best Pick: C.J. Spiller
Worst Pick: Marcus Easley
Best Value: Levi Brown
I'll keep on saying that receivers fell that didn't need to, so you can just assume when a receiver is the first pick that I'm staying on that wagon.
They got a great running back with Spiller, and Levi Brown could be the starting quarterback by the year's end.
I can't give them a higher grade because I don't see the instant contributor from the defensive linemen that they picked. Unless their defense is better, their team hasn't really improved that much.
Carolina Panthers: A
First Pick: Jimmy Clausen
Best Pick: Jimmy Clausen
Worst Pick: Armanti Edwards
Best Vaule: Tony Pike
I like Matt Moore a lot. I mean, Pro Bowl a lot. That being said, you can't fault them for taking Jimmy Clausen half way through the second round. You also can't fault them for taking Tony Pike just in case toward the end of the sixth round.
I like the pick of Brandon LaFell, and I like that they picked up pass rushers and secondary to make up for the loss of Julius Peppers.
The only pick I didn't like was Armanti Edwards, and that is just because I am not a big fan of the QB-to-WR transition.
Chicago Bears: F
First Pick: Major Wright
Best Pick: Dan LeFevour
Worst Pick: Major Wright
Best Value: Dan LeFevour
The Bears got a really good pick with LeFevour in the sixth round, but the rest of their draft was awful.
Major Right was not a good pick at all. The guy needs a lot of work to be a good NFL player, he is undisciplined in the secondary.
The team also did absolutely nothing to improve their receiving corps. They expect Jay Cutler to be great, but with nobody to throw the ball to, there is no way he'll be what he was in Denver.
Cincinnati Bengals: A-
First Pick: Jermaine Gresham
Best Pick: Jermaine Gresham
Worst Pick: Carlos Dunlap
Best Value: Jordan Shipley, Dezmon Briscoe
The Bengals now have one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL. They added Gresham, Shipley and Briscoe to a receiving corps that already had Ochocinco, Matt Jones, and Antonio Bryant.
They didn't address safety, but with all the good players they did draft it is hard not to be happy.
The only question is with Carlos Dunlap's character. The Bengals are a team that doesn't need character questions, so I don't love this pick.
Cleveland Browns: A+
First Pick: Joe Haden
Best Pick: Joe Haden
Worst Pick: Carlton Mitchell
Best Value: Colt McCoy
I loved the Browns draft. The team had a lot of needs and did a good job of addressing them. They got a great corner in the first round, a good safety in the second and one of the steals of the draft with Colt McCoy falling into their laps in the third.
The only pick I didn't like was Mitchell with Briscoe still on the board (if you haven't figured it out, I really like Briscoe). The Browns are a team that is definitely on the way up now. Look out for this team on the rise.
Dallas Cowboys: A-
First Pick. Dez Bryant
Best Pick: Dez Bryant
Worst Pick: Jamar Wall
Best Value: Dez Bryant
The Cowboys got a steal in the late first round with Dez Bryant. Far and away the best receiver in the draft this season.
Dallas also added a future defensive star with Sean Lee in the second. Sitting behind a great group of linebackers, Lee has a chance to step in and give the team and immediate boost.
The team went with some secondary in the later round, picking corners (a move that may mean that Orlando Scrandrick is moving to safety). The corners they picked are pure athletes with play-making ability.
They also added a good offensive lineman late with Sam Young.
That being said, the team made a bad choice in picking Jamar Wall over Myron Rolle in the sixth round.
Denver Broncos: F
First Pick: Demaryius Thomas
Best Pick: None
Worst Pick: Tim Tebow
Best Value: None
I hated the Broncos draft. They took Thomas with Bryant still on the board, and then traded back into the first round to take Tim Tebow, a QB who is a least two seasons away from being NFL-ready.
I see zero improvement from Denver. If anything, I expect this team to be worse in the coming season.
Detroit Lions: A
First Pick: Ndamukong Suh
Best Pick: Ndamukong Suh
Worst Pick: None
Best Vaule: Jahvid Best
The Lions didn't have a ton of picks, but they got quality. This team is now much better than it was just a few days ago.
Suh is a freak who will give their defense help right away, they got a good talent with Best (a player that should have been gone about half way through the first round).
Amari Spievey is a quality corner in the third round and Jason Fox is quality tackle in the fourth.
They spent their two seventh-round picks on depth. This was a good draft for the Lions. Look for them to challenge Chicago for the third spot in their division this season.
Green Bay Packers: A
First Pick: Bryan Bulaga
Best Pick: Bryan Bulaga
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Morgan Burnett
The Packers did an outstanding job in this draft. They went smart early with Bulaga to protect their QB Aaron Rodgers, who was sacked more than any other QB last season.
They continued to beef up the line with TCU's Marshall Newhouse in the fifth round, which was a great quality pick.
The Packers also got some good defense from the draft. A good defensive tackle from Purdue in the second round with Mike Neal and one of the top quality picks of the draft with a very good safety in the third with Georgia Tech's Morgan Burnett.
They added two good offensive players in TE Andrew Quarless and RB James Starks, both of whom are very underrated talents.
Houston Texans: B-
First Pick: Kareem Jackson
Best Pick: Ben Tate
Worst Pick: Garrett Graham
Best Value: Ben Tate
The Texans got a good corner (Jackson), a very good RB (Tate) and a pretty good DT (Earl Mitchell).
Other parts of the draft were very confusing. The team picked two TEs, one of which was taken in the fourth round with a lot of talent left to sort through.
Not that Garrett Graham is a bad player, but with Owen Daniels, there seems to be zero need. Especially with a team that could have taken a safety.
I also hate any time a player is drafted with the word kick returner in front of their name. It's one thing to take a position player with return skills, but a pure returner seems like a waste to me.
The class was pretty good, but both TE picks seem wasted, and of course the returner.
Indianapolis Colts: A
First Pick: Jerry Hughes
Best Pick: Jerry Hughes
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Brody Eldridge
Does anybody every question what Indianapolis does during the draft?
They got a dynamic pass rusher with Jerry Hughes that makes their defensive front that much more dangerous than what it was already. They also got a solid linebacker in the second round with Pat Angerer.
In addition, they made sure nobody will ever hit their QB by adding an underrated guard with Jacques McClendon and arguably the best blocking tight end in the draft with Brody Eldridge.
They also added solid depth with three seventh-round picks.
Jacksonville Jaguars: F
First Pick: Tyson Alualu
Best Pick: Austen Lane
Worst Pick: Tyson Alualu
Best Value: Austen Lane
The Jaguars had one of the most puzzling drafts I've ever witnessed from a team other than the Oakland Raiders (who had a great draft this season, did anyone else see that coming?).
They spent their first pick on Alualu, who isn't a bad player at all. The problem is that the following defensive linemen were available: Brendon Graham, Jerry Hughes, Jason Pierre-Paul, Dan Willams and Derrick Morgan.
If the team really wanted Alualu they could have traded down in the round.
The biggest problem is that the team came in with several needs and pretty much only addressed defensive line. The secondary and linebackers are still suspect.
Once again, the Jags will be a mediocre team in a tough division.
Kansas City Chiefs: A++
First Pick: Eric Berry
Best Pick: Eric Berry
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Eric Berry
Kansas City managed what is by far my favorite group of the entire draft. By a very long shot.
The team got the player that I think is the best in the entire draft with Eric Berry, and they got him with the fifth pick.
They also got an explosive offensive threat in Dexter McCluster and a great corner in Javier Arenas.
They also got one of my favorite guards in the draft (Jon Asamoah) and one of the best TEs as well (Tony Moeaki).
By adding a solid safety (Kendrick Lewis) and a very good DE from Troy (Cameron Sheffield).
I love every pick that the Chiefs made in this draft. Scott Pioli is looking absolutely brilliant.
Miami Dolphins: C / Incomplete
First Pick: Jared Odrick
Best Pick: Jared Odrick
Worst Pick: Koa Misi
Best Value: Reshad Jones
I look at this draft and don't see the great pick. The thing is, I can't bet against Bill Parcells. The team stretched for Odrick and Misi (not as much for Odrick to be fair, he is a very good player).
I like Reshad Jones late and I like Chris McCoy late (of course, I'm biased being a fellow Blue Raider).
This draft gets a C right now because I just can't see it, but and Incomplete because knowing Parcells, they will all turn out really good.
Minnesota Vikings: A-
First Pick: Cris Cook
Best Pick: Toby Gerhart
Worst Pick: Joe Webb
Best Value: Everson Griffen
The Vikings got three good picks to start their draft with Cook, Gerhart and Griffen.
They addressed every need through the draft. They are marked down for one reason only, taking a mediocre QB when there seems to be zero need, and when better players at that position were still available.
New England Patriots: A
First Pick: Devin McCourty
Best Pick: Devin McCourty
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Brandon Deaderick
The Patriots always have a great draft. Always.
This year they added two very good TEs in the draft with Rob Gronkowski and the very underrated Aaron Hernandez.
They got one of the best corners in the draft (McCourty) and two other good defenders from Florida (Jermaine Cunningham and Brandon Spikes).
The team got another deep threat to go along with Randy Moss (Taylor Price) and got what could be the steal of the draft with Brandon Deaderick with close to the last pick in the draft.
They added a very solid back-up QB by drafting Zac Robinson (this guy will eventually be great).
The Patriots just know how to draft, period.
New Orleans Saints: C-
First Pick: Patrick Robinson
Best Pick: Charles Brown
Worst Pick: Jimmy Graham
Best Value: Charles Brown
The Saints did very little to improve their defense in the draft, which is what they really needed to do. They took a corner in the first round and a DT in the fourth, but they did absolutely nothing to replace Darren Sharper.
They took two offensive linemen and a tight end who I had way behind some of the others that were taken later. Not that this team needs a lot of improvement, but they just didn't come away with much.
New York Giants: C
First Pick: Jason Pierre-Paul
Best Pick: Jason Pierre-Paul
Worst Pick: Linval Joseph
Best Value: Chad Jones
The Giants didn't have a bad draft, they just didn't have a great draft either.
They took Joseph in the second round, but Mike Neal was on the board and I like him more. Chad Jones is potentially a very good pick with his upside. Pierre-Paul was good, but with Derrick Morgan still on the board I don't like it.
All in all, the team took care of a couple of needs; they just did it with players that weren't as good as other players that were available.
New York Jets: D
First Pick: Kyle Wilson
Best Pick: Kyle Wilson
Worst Pick: Vlad Ducasse
Best Value: Joe McKnight
This team did not impress me. They had only four picks and the only one I like is Kyle Wilson. The problem there is that corner was at the very bottom of their list of needs.
McKnight could be a decent NFL back, he'll basically fill the role that Leon Washington had.
Vlad Ducasse was okay, but Charles Brown is better and he was still available.
They didn't impress me in this draft at all.
Oakland Raiders: A+
First Pick: Rolondo McClain
Best Pick: Rolondo McClain
Worst Pick: Jared Veldheer
Best Value: Bruce Campbell
The Raiders got the job done this year, which is very hard to say. They usually are the laughing stock of the NFL Draft.
This year they got a great linebacker in the first round (a true linebacker, not a hybrid pass rusher which has become so popular), then added a very good defensive tackle in the second.
They got two OTs to help protect their QB, but they could have taken somebody other than Veldheer in the third (still not a bad pick though.
Which bring me to another point. I had given this class an A- for not picking a QB, but then they traded for Jason Campbell.
I love the Jacoby Ford pick because I really like the kid in the slot for Oakland. Walter McFadden from Auburn could be a late steal. And they added a good depth in the sixth and seventh rounds.
Remember, this team pulled off a few upsets last season. Watch out for the Raiders in 2010.
Philadelphia Eagles: A
First Pick: Brandon Graham
Best Pick: Nate Allen
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Riley Cooper
The Eagles went defense all the way in this draft. Understandable after the way the season ended for the team. The thing is, they did a very good job of it.
The team got a great defensive end in the first round (Graham) and in the second got a player that I think is a lot closer to the talent of Eric Berry and Earl Thomas than a lot of people realize.
They added Cooper late, and I think that he has potential to be great in the slot with Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson on the outside.
The team added a lot of depth in the defensive front seven. Hard not to like what they did with a lot of draft picks.
Pittsburgh Steelers: C-
First Pick: Maurkice Pouncey
Best Pick: Chris Scott
Worst Pick: Maurkice Pouncey
Best Value: Jonathan Dwyer
I didn't like the Pouncey pick for this team at all. I think that center is one of the more stable positions on the Steelers line with Justin Hartwig.
I didn't like Jason Worlds in the second or Emmanuel Sanders in the third.
They finished better with Chris Scott, Thaddeus Gibson, Crezdon Butler and Jonathan Dwyer.
A strong finish saved this group from being a complete disappointment for Pittsburgh.
San Diego Chargers: A-
First Pick: Ryan Matthews
Best Pick: Ryan Matthews
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Jonathan Crompton
The Chargers got a great back with Matthews and then added a guy with upside that is outrageous with Jonathan Crompton in the fifth. They got a decent tight end in the seventh as well.
Donald Butler, Cam Thomas and Darrell Stuckey are all good defensive picks as well. The only knock is that they could have used a corner to replace Antonio Cromartie.
San Francisco 49ers: A
First Pick: Anthony Davis
Best Pick: Anthony Davis
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Taylor Mays
The team got a good OT with Anthony Davis early and continued to beef up the line with Mike Iupati, both in the first.
They got Taylor Mays in the second which was the perfect spot for him. They got a good blocking TE (Nate Byham) to compliment Vernon Davis and an underrated RB in Anthony Dixon who can add more depth to a backfield with Frank Gore and Glenn Coffee.
Kyle Williams late was not a bad pick with so many receivers already gone and every other pick just helped to add depth. No real knock on this team.
Seattle Seahawks: A+
First Pick: Russell Okung
Best: Russell Okung/ Earl Thomas
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Okung/ Thomas
This team got two of the best players in the draft in the first round (Okung and Thomas). They then added Golden Tate in the second (he will be great in the NFL you can take that from me). They added plenty of defense and a TE, but they did even more with trades.
They acquired LenDale Which and Kevin Vickerson from the Titans and Leon Washington from the Jets.
Seattle could bounce back big time.
St. Louis Rams: A
First Pick: Sam Bradford
Best Pick: Sam Bradford
Worst Pick: None
Best Value: Marty Gilyard
The Rams got their franchise QB. They then made the best move possible and got a big man to block for him (Rodger Saffold). They also added a good weapon for him with Marty Gilyard.
They drafted a blocking TE (Michael Hoomanawanui) and a receiving TE (Fendi Onobun) to help out Bradford as well.
On defense they got Jerome Murphy from South Florida for the secondary and then used their other picks to beef up the front seven.
The Rams are in a good spot to rebuild this franchise.
Tampa Bay Bucaneers: A
First Pick: Gerald McCoy
Best Pick: Gerald McCoy
Worst Pick: Mike Williams
Best Value: Arrelious Benn
Tampa Bay got a beast in McCoy who they are hoping will be the next Warren Sapp. They added Brian Price in the second, and suddenly they have a good, young defensive line.
Arrelious Benn was a good pick at wideout, but Mike Williams was picked with too many better receivers on the board.
By adding other good defenders (Myron Lewis, Cody Grimm, Dekoda Watson) they have improved this team a lot.
Tennessee Titans: A-
First Pick: Derrick Morgan
Best Pick: Derrick Morgan
Worst Pick: Rusty Smith
Best Value: Myron Rolle
The Titans executed the draft wonderfully by taken what fell to them, and what fell to them was great.
Derrick Morgan is a beast. They got quality with Damian Williams, Rennie Curran and Robert Johnson; all of which can contribute immediately.
They also got a steal with Myron Rolle with the last pick of the sixth round. Maybe the smartest player to ever enter the league and a guy who could eventually be great.
From begging to end this is one of the Titans best complete drafts in a long time.
They only knock is taking Rusty Smith with better QBs available.
Washington Redskins: D-
First Pick: Trent Williams
Best Pick: Trent Williams
Worst Pick: Trent Williams
Best Value: Selvish Capers
How can a player be your best pick and your worst pick? When Trent Williams is a very, very good player, but Russell Okung is a great player and you passed on him.
They didn't pick again until the fourth round. They took Perry Riley, which wasn't bad. They just didn't have the picks to get a quality draft because they traded them all away last year.
I did like Selvish Capers late, but by that point it was too late to save the class. It did, however, keep them from an F.
