The Philip Rivers Era
LaDainian Tomlinson is gone and quarterback Philip Rivers is now the officially big dog on the team. While Tomlinson was on the team in name last season he didnāt play up to his capabilities as the team leaned on Rivers more.
Now, the team may not even bring back Darren Sproles and are due to select a rookie running back at this years' draft.
Expect Rivers and the Chargers' offense to be a heavy pass first attack this season as the team is built to throw the football. If Malcom Floyd doesnāt get his act together at receiver Legedu Naanee could challenge him for the No. 2 receiver job.
Retooling The Defense
Nose tackle Jamal Williams was released from the team in March after he suffered a season ending injury in September. Many thought the Chargers would struggle against the run with him out, but they found a way to play respectable football.
While the defense did have a good year, they would be wise to get themselves a true nose tackle in this years' draft. Even a good rotation would help this team in the middle as right now they are filled with undersized tackles at the position.
