Forget Draft Drama, Tim Tebow Will Go To Jacksonville in the Second Round

Larry Burton (Panama City Beach, Fla.):  Every NFL coach knows his job depends on wins and losses. Every NFL player wants to play for a team that's a winner.

And while most NFL owners want to own a winning team, for the most part, they want to make money.

In case you're not from the state of Florida, you have no idea how big an icon Tim Tebow is in Florida. 

I covered the Senior Bowl for Bleacher Report, and Tebow had more fans in attendance than not only any other player, but maybe the top 10 put together.

The only chants during the game were for Tebow to play and the crowd yelled as loud or louder for the smallest Tebow gain or pass competition as for a team scoring.

The Senior Bowl sold out within hours of Tim Tebow saying he would participate in the game. This is a guy who sell out a basketball auditorium for a tiddlywinks game.

That fact has not gone unnoticed to the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wayne Weaver is losing money in Jacksonville, lots of money. He can't afford to lose money like this again next year or the next. He doesn't have pockets that deep.

Signing Tebow could fill the stands for the next two years while he's given a chance to succeed. That would allow Weaver to recover his money and get out and sell the team.

However, if Tebow works out, even a little, he might keep the team and actually make money on the team.

Let's face it, nobody else is waiting to jump on Tim Tebow in the first round. So Tebow will be there on the sideline when Jacksonville comes around in the second round.

And could Tebow do much worse that last year's 7-9 record? Can he be that much worse than Luke McCown or David gerrard?

So don't buy for a second that teams are having second thoughts on Tebow based on his Senior Bowl showing, or lack thereof, and it really doesn't matter what the combines showed.

Jacksonville is taking Mr. Tebow in the second round, because money talks.
