Brett Favre has an itch. Let's all write an article about it.

Imagine getting paid to do something you love for 16 years. Now, imagine not doing it anymore.

If you felt like you might be a little sad when it came time for the new season to roll around...you probably hit the nail on the head in regards to what Brett Favre is feeling.

Of course the man has an itch to play. It's in his heart. It's in his blood. It's a habit for him. Anytime somebody does something over and over again for a long period of time, you feel funny when you stop. It's human nature.

Brett Favre will not come out of retirement. The main reason being exactly what he said during his retirement speech. He just doesn't want to anymore. Not that he doesn't think he can do it, or that he doesn't think it will be fun. He has spent a ridiculous amount of time away from his family for the love of football.

He also has to feel some kind of happiness for Aaron Rodgers, and anxiousness to see how he does for Green Bay.

Until Brett Favre says that he's coming out of retirement, I'm going to take his words exactly as they came out. The man has an itch.

In other news, in my last "Rambling Geek" piece, I had all but guaranteed that the Oakland Athletics would win the AL West this season. I was not intoxicated at that moment, but looking back at that statement, I'm starting to wonder if maybe I was a little hungover or something.

The A's lost this week's series to the Angels. They were, however, able to avoid the sweep. Now that I live in NY, I haven't been able to keep an eye on them...but from looking at the stats, it seems that not much has changed. Eric Chavez is visiting the DL again, and overall the team is performing well, but not well enough.

If these guys could find a way to perform to their potential on a more consistent basis, they'd still have a shot to win the West. Somehow I don't see that happening anymore.

Did I mention I can't wait for football season?

'Til next time...
