2010 NFL Mock Draft, Analysis
Here's the top 10 draft picks, followed by the remaining picks for the first round.
No. 1 St. Louis—Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
Clausen will be the first pick of the draft; however, Ndamukong Suh is a better prospect. Marc Bulger and Kyle Boller are not exactly franchise quarterbacks.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸
Clausen is more NFL-ready than Sam Bradford and honestly, he is more talented. The numbers don’t lie, Clausen threw for 28 touchdowns and only had four picks last year for Notre Dame.
No. 2 Detroit—Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
The Lions ranked last in run defense, giving up 392 yards per game and yes, I know they are also ranked last in defense. They could use a guy like Eric Berry.
I also know that Jeff Backus gave up eight sacks and they would love to protect Matthew Stafford with a guy like Russell Okung. But the Lions will not be able to pass on the raw talent that Ndamukong Suh provides.
No. 3 Tampa Bay—Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
Berry is a tremendous playmaker as has been compared to Sean Taylor and Ed Reed. He is versatile enough to play either FS or SS.
I believe the defensive minded Raheem Morris recognizes that the Jim Thorpe award winner is a special athlete and will not pass him up at the three spot.
This will make Berry the first defensive back taken in the Top 3 since 1997, when Shawn Springs was taken by the Seattle Seahawks.
No. 4 Washington—Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
The Redskins have given Jason Campbell ample time to prove himself. He has failed. Time for a new look, a new coach, and a new quarterback.
Sam Bradford will be Mike Shanahan’s new man. The Redskins will have to take have Bradford’s shoulder surgery in the back of their mind when drafting this injury-prone QB.
No. 5 Kansas City—Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
The Chiefs' O-Line gave up 45 sacks last season. Okung will provide some much-needed protection for the young Matt Cassell.
Okung only gave up one sack his entire senior season and anchored Oklahoma State's dominant running game that has been atop the Big 12 for four consecutive seasons.
No. 6 Seattle—Gerald McCoy , DT, Oklahoma
I see the Seahawks taking the best available at the six spot. Experts have McCoy as the second best prospect in the draft. Carroll will be pleased with McCoy fell to him at six.
No. 7 Cleveland—Joe Haden, CB, Florida
The Browns need help everywhere but offensive tackle (Joe Thomas). Haden is the shut down corner that the Browns will be very pleased with.
They definitely still need a quarterback but who can they take with Bradford and Clausen off the board? Tebow? I think not.
No. 8 Oakland—Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
Guessing who Al Davis wants to draft is always entertaining. His draft strategy is definitely rare.
In the war room everyone writes down a player they like on a piece of paper. Players that are slow are immediately thrown out. Then, Al throws out the prospects that either make sense, or would fit well on the Raiders team.
You are left with a bunch of fast players that don’t make sense. Put them in a hat and choose a name. In the 2010 draft Al Davis picks Bruce Campbell out of the hat.
Don’t worry, he’s fast.
No. 9 Buffalo—Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
The Bills could use a quarterback but the position is thin and there isn’t a guy worth taking with the ninth overall pick. The offensive line gave up 46 sacks last season and Jonathan Scott is not getting the job done at left tackle.
At 6’6", 325, Anthony Davis will be the Bills selection and should provide some protection for the QB for years to come.
No. 10 Jacksonville—Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
I can’t believe I see mock drafts with Tim Tebow going to the Jags as the 10th overall pick. He will not succeed as an NFL QB. It just won’t work.
If you are looking to draft a hard working motivational speaker at the 10 spot then go for it. Derrick Morgan is the best fit for the Jags.
Morgan is a talented pass rusher who will actually be able to play the same position he played in college.
