Today (1939): NFL Holds first Pro Bowl at Wrigley Field
January 15, 1939
On this day, 71 years ago, the NFL held its first Pro Bowl at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles, California. You read that correctly; Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. Apparently, the venue served as host to minor league baseball teams as well as the current major league team, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, in their expansion season of 1961 before it was torn down in the 60s. Who knew? Not this guy. Who did? Wikipedia, that’s who. That bastard knows it all.
Anyway, the Pro Bowl.

Actually, forget it. You don’t care about the Pro Bowl, just like the guy sitting next to you.
We will say this; even though the Pro Bowl started out in Los Angeles (and eventually a few other host cities), it settled in Hawaii in 1980. It’s said that Chris Berman’s Mom was instrumental in moving the event to Honolulu because she knew how darn cute her son looked in Hawaiian shirts and pastel colors.
She was right.
