It's for me to once again update my 2010 NFL mock draft.
Not too much has changed since the last time I updated my mock a week ago.
A few teams have moved down in the order of picks and a few teams have moved up a few notches.
To spice up the pot a little bit, I will be adding predicted trades that could very well end up happening during the draft.
As always, the order of picks are based on the teams current record and where I think they'll finish at the end of the season.
Don't see a player you think should be in there? Let me know about it.
I love all feedback and arguments. Tell me what you think of your teams pick(s).
1. Cleveland Browns- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
Despite getting punched in the face by a crazed Notre Dame fan, Jimmy Clausen is still on top of his game.
I don't see any reason why this guy shouldn't be the first overall pick. Brady Quinn doesn't appear to be working at this point.
2. St. Louis Rams- Jake Locker, QB, Washington
Marc Bulger is hurt...Again. This guy can never stay healthy. It would take a miracle for him to be a starter on the Rams next season.
Jake Locker is the ideal quarterback at 6"3, 225 lbs. It'll be a toss-up between him and Clausen for the first pick.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
Tampa Bay's key problems are on defense. Receiver is a need, but no receivers are worth taking in the top five at this point in time.
Ndamukong Suh could very well win the Heisman trophy this season, believe it or not. Tampa Bay cannot pass on this phenom.
4. Detroit Lions- Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
The idea of getting Gerald McCoy might be enticing, but if Russell Okung is there, Detroit must select him.
Detroit's offensive line is horrendous. At this pace, Matthew Stafford will have a good long five years in the NFL.
5. Buffalo Bills- Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
Buffalo is one of the biggest disappointments this season. What can this team do right?
The Bills defensive line lacks a strong presence like Gerald McCoy. If he's available, he's a definite pick for Buffalo.
6. Oakland Raiders- Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
The Raiders beat the Cincinnati Bengals. No, the date is not April 1st. They seriously beat a legitimately good team!
Nonetheless, Oakland is still rubbish. Eric Berry is far too good to pass up on. If Al Davis passes on Berry, he is truly going to be judged as a senile geezer.
7. Kansas City Chiefs- Taylor Mays, S, USC
Kansas City is another team who pulled off a huge upset this weekend. In week 11, the Chiefs beat the super bowl champion, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Taylor Mays is a great safety, and an all around great athlete. He would make an instant impact on a soft Chiefs defense.
8. Seattle Seahawks- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
After seeing Matt Hasselbeck absolutely suck against the Vikings, I can't see them taking anybody else but Sam Bradford.
Sam Bradford's shoulder is in question, but with a strong combine, he will move up the boards in a big way.
9. Washington Redskins- Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
Washington's offensive line is horrible. I have been saying that for weeks. They have been abysmal all year long.
Bruce Campbell may be a reach, but he's a solid pick. Tim Tebow and Ryan Mallett are not worth taking right here.
10. New England Patriots from Denver thru Chicago- Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
*New England trades their first round pick and the Tennessee Titans second round pick (owned by New England) to the Denver Broncos for their first round pick.
With New England trading up in the first they will ultimately take Carlos Dunlap, a freakish athlete out of Florida.
He's slipped a little on the boards, but he is still a solid top 15 pick. New England will be able to make him an all-star on the d-line.
11. San Francisco 49ers from Carolina- Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
The 49ers offensive line is still one of the worst in the whole league. Imagine the damage Frank Gore could do if he had a great offensive line.
Bryan Bulaga could stay at Iowa for another year to possibly improve, but if he comes out now, San Fran will jump all over him.
12. Cleveland Browns from San Francisco thru Carolina- C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
*San Francisco trades it's first round pick (from Carolina) to the Cleveland Browns for QB Brady Quinn and their fifth round pick.*
San Francisco runs a west coast offense which will be perfect for a quarterback like Brady Quinn.
As for the Browns, Jamal Lewis will likely retire when this season is over. They will need an explosive rookie to take over for him.
That explosive rookie will be Clemson Tigers running back C.J. Spiller.
13. New York Jets- Joe Haden, CB, Florida
New York's secondary is currently ranked 4th in the league, but they have a bit of a problem at the No. 2 cornerback spot.
Lito Sheppard has been terrible since the Jets traded for him last off-season. Joe Haden is just too good to pass up on at pick 13.
14. Tennessee Titans- Donovan Warren, CB, Michigan
Tennessee just put up yet another poor performance against the pass this year against the Houston Texans on Monday night.
Donovan Warren could be a reach, but he's been playing very well as of late. The Titans wouldn't pass on him.
15. Miami Dolphins- Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
The Dolphins have a big need at middle linebacker with Akin Ayodele not living up to expectations that Miami had for him.
Rolando McClain this late would be a steal, quite frankly. I wouldn't be surprised if he even went top 10.
16. Atlanta Falcons- Derrick Morgan, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech
Atlanta's defense is the reason why they have had a very disappointing season in 2009. They are currently ranked 28th in total defense.
Derrick Morgan looks to be a better prospect than Greg Hardy right now. Atlanta will go for Derrick Morgan who plays near Atlanta.
17. Arizona Cardinals from Baltimore- Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
*Baltimore trades it's first round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for Anquan Boldin*
Baltimore has flirted with the idea of getting a solid No. 1 receiver for many years now. With Derrick Mason to likely retire, now is the time to do so.
With the Cardinals pick, I have them taking Trent Williams, an offensive tackle out of Oklahoma.
Arizona's offensive looks to have improved lately, but they could still upgrade over Mike Gandy.
18. Houston Texans- Earl Thomas, S, Texas
Houston's secondary is much better than last year, but they could use an improvement over Eugene Wilson.
Earl Thomas is a stout safety. He's rising up the draft boards quickly, and for a very good reason.
19. Green Bay Packers- Charles Brown, OT, USC
I don't know how many times I have to say it, Green Bay's offensive line is horrendous.
Charles Brown would be an instant starter on this offensive line. Aaron Rodgers surprisingly hasn't broken every bone in his body despite being sacked almost 40 times this season.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars- Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
After seeing Urban Mayer in tears on Monday, it's clear what kind of locker room inspiration and overall great person that Tim Tebow is.
But does a good leader and nice person lead to success in the NFL? Perhaps not. Jacksonville needs fans, I've been saying it for weeks.
Tim Tebow will be able to bring fans to the games to see what he can display on the football field.
21. Seattle Seahawks from Denver- Jahvid Best, RB, California
Seattle's second first round pick will be dedicated towards getting a running back that can be in on almost every down.
Jahvid Best has been riddled with injuries this season, but he's still arguably the best running back in the 2010 draft.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers- Morgan Burnett, FS, Georgia Tech
Pittsburgh's weakness on defense is in the secondary. Troy Polamalu has been hit with two devastating knee injuries this season already.
Morgan Burnett will be able to play along side Polamalu for many years to come.
23. New York Giants- Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida
The Giants defense has looked very poor this season. They are giving up quite a few points as of late.
Brandon Spikes is slipping on the boards and I do not know why. He always makes a huge impact on the Gators defense. He could end up being the steal of the draft.
24. Philadelphia Eagles- Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss
Philadelphia is ranked 10th in the league in rushing, but they still have a big need at defensive end on the opposite side of Trent Cole.
Greg Hardy might not be the perfect fit for the Eagles, but he's definitely the best option available for them.
25. Cincinnati Bengals- Terrence Cody, DT, Alabama
Cincinnati's defense has been much better than it was in 2008. With that said, they have a big need at nose tackle.
Domata Peko isn't going to cut it. Terrence Cody would be too good to pass up on. He's massive at 365 lbs, and is a run-stuffer.
26. Denver Broncos from New England- Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
Denver's quarterback situation is a cause for concern. Kyle Orton is a good quarterback, but he's not a star like Colt McCoy has the potential to be.
McCoy, like I said, has a load of potential. For some reason he's being overshadowed by the other quarterbacks in the draft.
27. Arizona Cardinals- Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Arizona has no significantly good tight end. Ben Patrick? No. Anthony Becht? Absolutely no chance.
Jermaine Gresham is definitely worth taking in the late first round. He's slipped a little due to his season-long injury, but Arizona won't let him pass by without a glance.
28. Dallas Cowboys- Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
With Flozell Adams getting up there in age, the Dallas Cowboys offensive line situation is now further in question.
Anthony Davis might not be the best player available, so don't be surprised if the Cowboys try to trade down a few picks.
29. San Diego Chargers- Damian Williams, WR, USC
San Diego released Chris Chambers a few weeks back. Was it a mistake? At the time, no. But seeing how he's done with Kansas City, it might be.
Damian Williams will likely be the first receiver to be taken. San Diego will love having this guy for Rivers to throw to.
30. Minnesota Vikings- Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
Ben Leber is currently having one of the worst seasons in his whole career. He's aging, and Minnesota will try to look for a replacement.
Travis Lewis, an outside linebacker from Oklahoma, is a solid pick for the Vikings. He's a great athlete at 6"2, 230 lbs.
31. Indianapolis Colts- Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida
Indianapolis has looked a little shaky over the last few weeks. Their defense has been riddled with key injuries.
Jason Pierre-Paul has risen up the boards quickly with the great season he's been having. Robert Mathis and Raheem Brock will be free-agents after the 2010 season.
32. New Orleans Saints- Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri
The Saints outside linebackers are pretty weak. If they have one weakness it's the linebacking core.
Sean Weatherspoon would be a great pick for the last selection in the first round. He's a hard-worker and a great tackler.
Round 2: Picks 33-48
33. Cleveland Browns- Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
34. St. Louis Rams- Everson Griffen, DE, USC
35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU
36. Detroit Lions- Ras-I Dowling, DB, Virginia
37. Buffalo Bills- Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss
38. Oakland Raiders- Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB, TCU
39. Kansas City Chiefs- Joseph Barksdale, OT, LSU
40. Seattle Seahawks- Brandon Ghee, CB, Wake Forest
41. Washington Redskins- Tony Pike, QB, Cincinnati
42. Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Chicago- Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan
43. Carolina Panthers- Arthur Jones, DT/DE, Syracuse
44. San Francisco 49ers- Von Miller, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
45. New York Jets- Jared Odrick, DE/DT, Penn State
46. Denver Broncos from New England thru Tennessee- Corey Wootton, DE/DT, Northwestern
47. Miami Dolphins- Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois
48. Kansas City Chiefs- Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
Round 2: Picks 49-64
49. Baltimore Ravens- Trevard Lindley, CB, Kentucky
50. Houston Texans- Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
51. Green Bay Packers- Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB, Texas
52. New England Patriots from Jacksonville- Vince Oghobaase, DT, Duke
53. Denver Broncos- Mike Iupati, G, Idaho
54. Pittsburgh Steelers- Mitch Petrus, G, Arkansas
55. New York Giants- Darrell Stuckey, SS, Kansas
56. Philadelphia Eagles- Navorro Bowman, OLB, Penn State
57. Cincinnati Bengals- Daryl Washington, ILB, TCU
58. New England Patriots- Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
59. Arizona Cardinals- Ricky Sapp, DE/OLB, Clemson
60. Dallas Cowboys- Chad Jones, FS, LSU
61. San Diego Chargers- Jason Fox, OT, Miami
62. Minnesota Vikings- Brian Price, DT, UCLA
63. Indianapolis Colts- Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
64. New Orleans Saints- Jeff Owens, DT, Georgia
