With only five months until the 2010 NFL Draft, it's time for me to update my latest mock draft.
I came out with a previous Mock Draft three weeks ago.
This time, I will be adding on a second round to the mix.
Feel free to add a deserving prospect to the discussion (or list), if you feel it is necessary.
1. Cleveland Browns- Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
The Browns are having an awful season. Their only win came against the Bills in a 6-3 snooze-fest.
Cleveland is in major need for a quarterback. Derek Anderson will go be a back-up somewhere, while Brady Quinn will be traded to a team like the Bills, Raiders, or Redskins, that could actually use him.
Jimmy Clausen is the new Browns quarterback. Good luck!
2. Detroit Lions- Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
If the Lions want to succeed all the time on offense, they need an offensive tackle on the opposite side of Gosder Cherilus.
Russell Okung is easily the best Offensive Tackle in the Draft.
In my opinion, Detroit would be foolish to pass up on another oppurtunity to improve their dismantled offensive line.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
The Buccaneers beat the Packers in the battle of the bays this past weekend to pick up their first win on the season.
With that said, Tampa Bay still has a terrible defense. They could use a beast on the defensive line like Ndamukong Suh out of Nebraska.
4. St. Louis Rams- Jake Locker, QB, Washington
The Rams are going to have a very tough time winning a game for the rest of the season, so they will obviously have a Top Five Pick in the Draft.
Marc Bulger is clearly past his prime. St. Louis needs to focus on getting their quarterback of the future. That quarterback will be Jake Locker.
5. Kansas City Chiefs- Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
The Chiefs have been a terrible team for many years. They need to start making a change to become a serious contender.
Eric Berry is one of the best players in the 2010 Draft. Kansas City could use a great tackler in their secondary.
6. Oakland Raiders- Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
Oakland is known for making stupid first-round-picks that do not pan out in their rookie seasons. Take JaMarcus Russell, Darren McFadden, and Darrius Heyward-Bey for example.
Carlos Dunlap would be a huge reach this early in the draft. He could drop out of the Top 20 picks with how poor his stock is right now.
But that won't stop Oakland!
7. Washington Redskins- Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
Redskins fans have to be as close to personally driving to Dan Snyder's house and beating him as it possibly gets.
Washington will have a totally new team next year. New coach, possible new owner, and a new quarterback.
Tim Tebow is exactly what the Redskins need for the future.
8. Tennessee Titans- Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
Despite starting off 0-6, the Tennessee Titans have won two games in a row. They are getting better, but they still have many flaws.
Vince Young has looked good over the last two weeks, but he's not the quarterback of the future.
Sam Bradford being the fourth quarterback taken is absurd, but he could very well be the best of the bunch.
9. Seattle Seahawks- Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
Seattle was expected to possibly be a surprise good team this year. The only thing that is surprising is how terrible they are doing as of late.
The Seahawks offensive line could really use some work. Bryan Bulaga might be a little overrated, but he is still worth a Top 10 pick.
10. Buffalo Bills- Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
The Bills have given up a lot of rushing yards lately. They need someone on the defensive line that can step up and shut down the run.
Gerald McCoy is one of the best players available at this point. He might not be the biggest need for Buffalo, but he will suffice.
11. San Francisco 49ers from Carolina- Taylor Mays, S, USC
The 49ers started off the season 2-0, but they've lost five of their last six games. Their chance at making the playoffs is starting to quickly disappear.
Taylor Mays will be snatched up immediately by the 49ers, if he's still left after the Top Ten picks.
12. San Francisco 49ers- Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
The 49ers offensive line could definitely use some young talent. Adam Snyder and Tony Pashos are clearly not cutting it right now.
Bruce Campbell is the perfect pick for San Francisco.
13. Jacksonville Jaguars- Greg Hardy, DE, Ole Miss
The Jaguars have a terrible pass rush that needs to be fixed. They only have eight sacks in eight games this season. That is terrible (just so you know).
Greg Hardy would be a great fit for the Jaguars. Hardy will work best, opposing side of former first-rounder, Derrick Harvey.
14. Miami Dolphins- Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
The Dolphins are not nearly as good as they were last year. I'm not quite sure what's going with Miami this season.
Rolando McClain will be an upgrade over Akin Ayodele, who is currently the Dolphins starting inside linebacker.
15. Denver Broncos from Chicago- Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
Every loss Chicago suffers is just another reason to celebrate for the Denver Broncos. Nice work, Coach Daniels.
Denver has suffered two losses in a row against two great teams in the Ravens and Steelers. Kyle Orton, in those games, had terrible numbers.
Orton is a good quarterback, but not the star that Denver needs. McCoy would be a perfect fit for their offense.
16. Green Bay Packers- Charles Brown, OT, USC
Breaking news: The Packers have arguably the worst offensive lines in NFL history!
Green Bay gave up eight sacks to Minnesota in only one game.
Charles Brown's stock is rising quickly. The Packers could really use a studly, big offensive tackle to help out Aaron Rodgers.
17. New York Jets- Arthur Jones, DE/DT, Syracuse
The Jets are another team who started the year off hot, but are now slowly starting to fizzle away.
New York could use a little help on the defensive line. Most people think the Jets should go after a receiver like Damian Williams.
I disagree with this, because I believe New York will re-sign Braylon Edwards after this year is over.
18. Houston Texans- Joe Haden, CB, Florida
I love the way the Houston Texans are playing as of late. They missed a field goal that would have sent the game vs. the Colts into overtime.
Houston could use a little help in the secondary. Dunta Robinson is fairly injury-prone. Joe Haden is a steal at this point.
19. Arizona Cardinals- Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
The Cardinals are 5-3, but I believe they are very overrated. They beat teams they shouldn't, and lose to teams they should beat.
Arizona could use help on the line next year. Mike Gandy will be a free-agent in 2010. Trent Williams is a very under-rated offensive tackle.
20. Baltimore Ravens- Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Baltimore is 4-4 right now, but they could end up being in the playoffs with a strong second half surge.
Todd Heap and L.J. Smith are outdated and not the solution at Tight End. Jermaine Gresham would be a major upgarde and well worth the price of a first-round pick.
21. Atlanta Falcons- Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma
Three Oklahoma players in a row. How cool is that?
The Falcons are doing very well this year. They are in a fairly weak division, so they will pick up one or two more wins within the NFC south.
Outside linebacker is a position of need for the Falcons.
Travis Lewis is the best outside linebacker available and would be a great fit for Atlanta.
22. New York Giants- Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida
The Giants are currently on a four-game losing streak. Who could have seen this one coming?
Antonio Pierce has dropped in productivity this season. He's losing speed, with age. Brandon Spikes will be his future replacement.
23. San Diego Chargers- Terrence Cody
San Diego has reeled off some big wins lately, including a win over the Giants on Sunday night.
Jamal Williams turns 34 years old in April. Don't be surprised if the Chargers try to trade or release him in the off-season.
Terrence Cody is a two-down nose tackle, but he is better than Williams (who isn't playing due to injury).
24. Philadelphia Eagles- Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
The Eagles are a good team, but not a contender that can beat the likes of the Vikings, Saints, and Cowboys at this point.
Derrick Morgan would be a big improvement over Victor Abiamiri, the Eagles current starting Left End.
25. Cincinnati Bengals- Jahvid Best, RB, California
The Bengals are the most surprising team this season. Not many people could have for-seen Cincinnati leading the division, this late in the season.
Cedric Benson is playing very well this season, but with the one-two punch spreading around the league like wildfire, the Bengals will try to keep the trend going with Jahvid Best.
26. Dallas Cowboys- Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
Dallas is looking a team to be reckoned with this season. They are 6-2, and have picked up big wins over the Falcons and Eagles.
Flozell Adams is wearing down late in his career, thus he will be retiring soon. Anthony Davis is what Dallas could use for the future.
27. Seattle Seahawks from Denver- C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
Seattle's second first rounder will be used on a running back that they could really use. Jahvid Best is more suited for their style, but Spiller will work, too.
Spiller is a tough runner, and could end up being the face of the franchise for the Seahawks.
28. Pittsburgh Steelers- Earl Thomas, FS, Texas
The Steelers scare me more and more every single week. They have beaten the Broncos and Vikings in the last two weeks.
Pittsburgh could really use some help in the secondary.
Tyrone Carter and Ryan Clark are both free-agents this off-season. I doubt either one will be back on the team.
29. New England Patriots- Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
New England is a dominant team that shuts down opponents nearly every week. I wouldn't be surprised if they win out for the rest of the season.
Joey Galloway didn't work out at all for the Patriots.
New England will most likely look for a receiver that can be a deep threat down the field for Tom Brady. Dez Bryant is the best-case scenario.
30. Minnesota Vikings- Morgan Burnett, FS, Georgia Tech
The Vikings could wind up playing in the Super Bowl, but since New Orleans is still undefeated, they'll stay the front-runner at this time.
Madieu Williams has given up a lot of big plays this season, so look for Morgan Burnett to upgrade the Vikings in the secondary.
31. Indianapolis Colts- Everson Griffen, DE, USC
The Colts are obviously a great team, but they could use a little bit of help in the defensive line, since Raheem Brock and Robert Mathis' contracts end after the 2010 season.
Everson Griffen will be a great pick for the 2011 Colts.
32. New Orleans Saints- Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri
New Orleans is arguably the best team in the NFL. They're always dominate on the offensive side, but as late, they've played very well on the defensive side.
But the Saints could still use some help on defense. And the Outside Linebacker position is in need of an upgrade.
Sean Weatherspoon will be able to fill that need.
Round 2: Picks 33-48
33. Cleveland Browns- Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
34. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Damian Williams, WR, USC
35. St. Louis Rams- Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU
36. Detroit Lions- Donovan Warren, CB, Michigan
37. Kansas City Chiefs- Jason Fox, OT, Miami
38. Oakland Raiders- Vince Oghobaase, DT/DE, Duke
39. New England Patriots from Tennessee- Von Miller, DE/OLB, Texas A&M
40. Washington Redskins- Joseph Barksdale, OT, LSU
41. Buffalo Bills- Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
42. Seattle Seahawks- Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia
43. Carolina Panthers- Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss
44. San Francisco 49ers- Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB, TCU
45. New England Patriots from Jacksonville- Jared Odrick, DE/DT, Penn State
46. Miami Dolphins- Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
47. Green Bay Packers- Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB, Texas
48. Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Chicago- Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan
Round 2: Picks 49-64
49. New York Jets- Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois
50. Houston Texans- Chad Jones, FS, LSU
51. Baltimore Ravens- Trevard Lindley, CB, Kentucky
52. Arizona Cardinals- Ricky Sapp, DE/OLB, Clemson
53. Kansas City Chiefs- Evan Royster, RB, Penn State
54. New York Giants- Darrell Stuckey, SS, Kansas
55. San Diego Chargers- Ciron Black, OT, LSU
56. Philadelphia Eagles- Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
57. Cincinnati Bengals- Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho
58. Denver Broncos- Mike Johnson, OG, Alabama
59. Dallas Cowboys- Nate Allen, FS, South Florida
60. Pittsburgh Steelers- Sam Young, OT, Notre Dame
61. New England Patriots- Brian Price, DT, UCLA
62. Minnesota Vikings- D'Anthony Smith, DT, Louisiana Tech
63. Indianapolis Colts- Daryl Washington, ILB, TCU
64. New Orleans Saints- Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
