Shaquem Griffin Bench-Presses 20 Reps with Prosthetic Hand at NFL Combine
Shaquem Griffin delivered the most memorable moment from Saturday's NFL Scouting Combine by completing 20 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press while using a prosthetic on his left hand.
At age four, Griffin had his hand amputated. The Central Florida linebacker recorded an interception in each of the last three seasons and had 18.5 combined sacks in his junior and senior years.
In "A letter to NFL GMs" published Friday on the Players' Tribune, Griffin detailed his father's innovative training methods:

"My dad used to build all kinds of contraptions to help me lift weights. We had this one thing—we called it 'the book,' and it was basically a piece of wood wrapped up in some cloth that I would hold up against the bar with my left arm when I bench pressed so my arms would be even."
Per Shannon Green of the Orlando Sentinel, Griffin said he more than tripled his goal:
He might have aimed for six after hearing that an NFL general manager set five as a target. Griffin described his reaction to that comment in an interview with NFL Network's Kimberly Jones:
Though he was not initially invited to the combine, the NFL welcomed Griffin following his attention-grabbing Senior Bowl performance.
After the Senior Bowl, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller predicted Griffin would get selected on Day 3 of the draft. Saturday's showing should increase those odds.
