Minnesota selected Cook with the No. 41 overall pick in this year's draft after he ran for 1,765 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2016 with the Seminoles.

The production was nothing new for Cook who ran for 1,691 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2015 and topped 1,000 yards on the ground in 2014 as well. He also demonstrated his versatility as a pass-catcher with 33 catches for 488 yards and a score in his final collegiate season.

Minnesota was intrigued enough by his potential to trade up from the 48th overall pick to 41 to add him to the roster.

The Vikings drafted Cook and signed Latavius Murray this offseason in part with an eye on a long-term replacement for team legend Adrian Peterson after Jerick McKinnon failed to impress with 3.4 yards per carry in 2016. Peterson signed with the New Orleans Saints this offseason.

Murray averaged just 4.0 yards per carry in each of the last two seasons, so Cook should have ample opportunity to play his way into the running back rotation now that he signed his rookie deal.
