Jets Want to Trade for More Picks in NFL Draft, According to GM Mike Maccagnan

The New York Jets already own seven picks in April's NFL draft, but general manager Mike Maccagnan isn't satisfied just yet.

Speaking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Friday, Maccagnan disclosed he'd like to bolster the Jets' pick stockpile with a trade.

"We would like to move back and acquire more picks in this draft if possible," he said, according to the team's official Twitter account

Maccagnan didn't specify which picks he would entertain trading. However, it's clear the selection that would fetch the Jets the most in return is their sixth pick in Round 1.

In the midst of a complete rebuild, it's not surprising to hear Maccagnan say he'd like to wheel and deal for additional picks.

The Jets have already announced the releases of wide receiver Brandon Marshall and center Nick Mangold this offseason, and those moves signaled a desire to build a younger, more cost-effective roster for the upcoming season.

Given that determination, it would make sense for Maccagnan to shop some of the Jets' higher picks in hopes of improving the depth of a fairly bare asset arsenal.

With positional voids to fill across their roster, the Jets need to load up and try to grow their program organically as they shift gears and embark on a new era.
