Todd Bowles Returns to Jets After Being Hospitalized
New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles was admitted to a hospital Friday afternoon and was in stable condition, according to the team website.
The Jets announced Saturday morning Bowles arrived at the team hotel and will be with the team at Gillette Stadium for its game against the New England Patriots. They later announced Bowles would coach from the sidelines.
After the Jets lost to the Patriots 41-3, Bowles told reporters he has kidney stones, gallstones and a gall bladder issue. He said he hasn't passed the stones yet.
Bowles had a successful debut season with the Jets last year. He led the team to a 10-6 record, its first season with double-digit wins since 2010, but New York missed out on the postseason after a Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Things have been decidedly worse in 2016 for the Jets. They head into Week 17 in the AFC East cellar with a 4-11 record, marking the third time in five seasons the team will finish with a losing record.
In 2014, the Associated Press recognized Bowles as the NFL's Assistant Coach of the Year.
