Aaron Donald Fined for Unnecessary Roughness: Latest Details, Comments
It's the season of giving, and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is set to make substantial contributions to the league office following a pair of penalties in Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the league fined Donald $18,231 on Friday for an unnecessary roughness flag and $24,309 for an unsportsmanlike conduct foul in the 24-3 loss. Rapoport noted the fines were larger because Donald is a repeat offender.
Donald was slapped with unsportsmanlike conduct after he threw a penalty flag back at a referee on a play that saw him rack up 30 penalty yards.
On-field outbursts aren't new for Donald, who has displayed a pattern of erratic behavior during the Rams' tumultuous regular season.
L.A.'s star defender was ejected from its Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers after he made contact with an official, and the league subsequently fined him for unsportsmanlike conduct.
In Week 6, Donald was again fined for unnecessary roughness after he attempted to bulldoze through the Detroit Lions offensive line during end-of-game kneeldowns in the 31-28 loss.
Donald and the Rams will be back in action Saturday when they play host to the 49ers and try to snap a five-game losing skid.
