Must-Watch Matchups

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

The Minnesota Vikings haven't given their fans much to watch in recent games, struggling during the back half of their season as much as they succeeded in the front half of it.

But the Vikings have a chance to make a huge statement on Christmas Eve, when they travel to take on the Green Bay Packers.

While Minnesota has lost its foothold on the NFC North title race, a wild-card spot is very much in play for the Vikings if they can defeat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

Minnesota quarterback Sam Bradford can't be happy about the fact the Packers have sacked opposing quarterbacks nine times in their last two games. But for as much pressure as Green Bay has been able to generate against signal-callers as of late, their secondary has been vulnerable to the pass.

If Bradford and Stefon Diggs can take advantage of Packers cornerback Damarious Randall the same way Chicago Bears quarterback Matt Barkley was able to in Week 15, it's going to be a long day for Green Bay.

Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys

Another NFC North team looks to gain a foothold in the conference in Week 16 when the Lions travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

The 9-5 Lions lead the Packers in the NFC North by one game, but if they fall to the Cowboys, they risk losing their grasp on the division in their head-to-head matchup with the Packers in Week 17.

Dallas presents an extremely challenging opponent for Detroit. The Lions have been one of the best teams in the league at defending the run, allowing an average of just 98.9 rushing yards per game. That's the 11th-best record in the NFL.

However, Detroit hasn't had to take on Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott. The rookie leads all rushers in the NFL—yes, even veterans Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson—in yards, with 1,551. He's also scored a whopping 13 touchdowns.

If Detroit can't slow down Elliott, it has no chance of winning this game. It's that simple.

The Lions put themselves in a tough spot in Week 15, when they fell to the New York Giants 17-6. Matthew Stafford and his team aren't likely to see another season in the near future when the Packers and Vikings do so much to help them out, so if they want an NFC North crown, they need to get it done against Dallas.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are watching their hopes at clinching the AFC West title slip away, as the 11-3 Oakland Raiders sit one game ahead of them heading into Week 16.

Kansas City's 19-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 shook up the division, with the Raiders having clinched their first playoff berth in 14 years.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have suffered from belonging to an extremely competitive division, as evidenced by the fact that they have gone 4-0 in the AFC West and are still elbowing their rivals for a playoff berth.

Here's how it breaks down: Kansas City needs to beat or tie the Denver Broncos in Week 16 or needs the Baltimore Ravens to lose to or tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers to get into the playoffs, as NFL media executive Joe Ferreira pointed out via Twitter:

Sometimes, teams have the misfortune of almost being penalized as a result of the division in which they play. That's the story for the Chiefs this year. At 10-4 and undefeated in their division, it's shocking that they have yet to clinch a postseason spot.

But the Chiefs still have more work to do, and it starts against Denver.

All NFL games can be live-streamed via DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket (if it's out of market), CBS Live StreamFox Sports GONBC Sports or WatchESPN depending on the game's affiliated station.
