Beckham 1st Wideout with 80 Catches and 1,000 Receiving Yards in First 3 Seasons

Bleacher Report MilestonesDec 20, 2016

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. posted six catches for 64 yards in Sunday's 17-6 win over the Detroit Lions.

The outing pushed him over 80 receptions on the season and made him the first player in NFL history to top 80 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons, per NFL Communications.

Beckham also scored his 10th receiving touchdown in Sunday's contest, becoming just the third player to record 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. John Jefferson (1978-80) and Randy Moss (1998-2000) are the only two receivers to previously do the same.

Through 14 games this season, Beckham currently possesses 85 receptions 1,173 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Should he maintain his current pace, the third-year receiver out of LSU would post a career high in receptions. He could also top the century mark in receptions with 15 more grabs between the two remaining contests.

The Giants sit two games ahead of the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the first wild-card spot in the NFC entering Week 16. They have never made the playoffs during Beckham's brief NFL tenure, but a win Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles would clinch a berth.

Beckham's consistent offensive production and an improved defense this season have put the Giants in position for their first trip to the playoffs since they won Super Bowl XLVI over the New England Patriots in the 2011-12 season, per Pro-Football-Reference.com. Should they make it, Beckham will likely contribute immensely to any postseason success.
