Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick
The Washington Redskins (6-3-1) will try to end a nine-game winning streak for the Dallas Cowboys (9-1) in their key divisional matchup Thanksgiving Day. The Redskins won the NFC East last year with a 9-7 mark, and the Cowboys can surpass that with a victory Thursday.
Point spread: The Cowboys opened as 6.5-point favorites; the total was 48.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)
NFL pick, via Odds Shark computer: 33.9-19.7 Cowboys (NFL picks on every game)
Why the Redskins can cover the spread
Washington came through in a 42-24 rout of the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, easily covering the spread as a three-point home favorite. The Redskins continue to get outstanding production from quarterback Kirk Cousins, who personally took it upon himself to help turn the team around following a disappointing 0-2 start.
Cousins is averaging 309 yards per game as he prepares to become a free agent in the offseason, and it's hard to imagine the team letting him go right now.
Washington is 14-6 against the spread in the past 20 meetings with Dallas, according to the Odds Shark NFL Database, splitting a pair last year, with the road team winning each time.
Why the Cowboys can cover the spread
What more can be said about the Cowboys, who are 9-0-1 ATS this season, have covered every game during their current winning streak and already beat Washington earlier this season. They have two players competing for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, who also leads the league in rushing.
Dallas is finally back to being America's Team again despite the continued absence of Tony Romo, with Prescott thriving in his place. The Cowboys are clearly the best team in the NFC at the moment and seem focused on earning the No. 1 seed in the conference this year.
Smart pick
The Redskins are one of the few teams in the league that can keep up with Dallas on the scoreboard in a potential shootout, which could happen here. Regardless, the Cowboys have lost seven of their last 10 games versus teams with winning records, and Washington is arguably the toughest team they have hosted this season. Look for the Redskins to keep this one close and stay within a touchdown to cover the spread on the NFL lines.
